Stirling’s  population     is
growing.          Population
growth in Stirling between
2000 and 2006 was two
per cent, double the one
per cent average rate of
growth for Scotland as a
whole. Stirling’s population
growth is projected to
continue, with a forecast
increase of 12 per cent
between 2006 and 2031,
more than double the five
per cent rate of growth forecast for Scotland as a whole. Stirling’s population is
projected to increase from 87,810 residents (GRO, 2006) to 97,954 residents in
2031

Figure 1 below plots Stirling’s population growth between 2000 and 2006 (1,500
increase).
