The Naperville-based Innovative Chinese Learning Center will hold two special
programs at the 95th Street Library, Naperville, in January and February.

Hanyu Pinyin Basic will be a 3-hour (1:30-4:30pm) session, on Sunday, Jan. 28, at the
95th Street Library. It introduces the basic sound-symbol correspondences of Hanyu
Pinyin, the romanized phonetic system for Mandarin Chinese. An innovative method is
used to help participants learn the Pinyin easily, experiencing minimal confusion with
English pronunciation. Writing rules and tone practice will also be included in this
introductory program. Pinyin is a necessity to anyone who wishes to know the sounds
and tones of Mandarin Chinese. This program will also assist first-time visitors to China
in the reading of maps, restaurant menus and street signs. Please register with Angela
Qian at (630) 717-0184 or principal@ichinese.us.

Chinese Keyboarding will be a 3-hour (1:30-4:30pm) session, on Sunday, Feb. 4, at the
95th Street Library. This program demonstrates how to type simplified Chinese using the
MS IME Pinyin method. It is for anyone who is already familiar with Pinyin and some
characters, and is interested in typing simplified characters in MS Word or e-mail. Each
participant will have the use of a PC to follow the steps involved, as provided by the
instructor. Please register with Angela Qian at (630) 717-0184 or principal@ichinese.us.
