Catoctin Youth Basketball Clinics and Leagues Registration: 2009-2010 The Catoctin Youth Association will be registering participants for the 2009-2010 basketball program at Thurmont Elementary School during the following times: Wednesday, October 14, 2009 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 15, 2009 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. LEAGUES AND CLINICS First and Second Grade Clinics: The clinics are co-ed and will meet approximately one hour for each of eight sessions starting in January. Skill and fundamentals are stressed. Intramural Leagues: Third through Fifth grade boy’s and girl’s leagues will have a maximum of ten players per team with a “must-play” rule. Teams practice once a week and typically play a game on Saturdays. Teams will start to practice in November. Games will start in December and end with a tournament in February. COACHES NEEDED Individuals interested in coaching should contact Mark Kennedy at (301) 271- 7170. Coaches will be informed of a meeting date prior to the start of the season. The Catoctin Youth Association does not provide any financial assistance to the coaching staff. Teams will not be formed without coaches. REFEREES The CYA needs individuals to referee the intramural games. CYA will provide training and a rule book to the referees. Anyone interested should call Mark Kennedy at (301) 271-7170. REGISTRATION FEES Registration Fees must be paid at Registration. The fees are: First and Second Grade Clinics $40.00 Third-Fifth Grade Leagues $60.00 (Each additional child is $30.00) TRAVEL TEAM Fifth Grade boys, who may be interested, may also tryout for a fifth-sixth grade travel team. Boys who tryout for this team and do not make it will be placed on an elementary intramural team. Tryout dates and times will be assigned upon registration.
