                                      Liability Release Form

I, ________________________________, acknowledge that I have voluntarily applied to participate in the Malibu
    (Print rider name)
Endurance Ride. I am aware that endurance riding on an equine involves being in remote areas for extended periods of
time, far from communications, transportation, and medical facilities, that these areas have many natural and manmade
hazards which ride management cannot anticipate, identify, or eliminate, that horses can be excitable, difficult to control
and unpredictable, that accidents can happen to anyone at anytime and that such accidents can result in great bodily
harm or even the death of the equine and/or rider. I agree to take full responsibility for myself and the animal I am
riding. As consideration for being permitted to participate in the ride and use the facilities provided by ride management,
I agree that I, my assignees, heirs, distributees, guardians, and legal representatives will not make a claim against or sue
Renee or Larry Bowers, ride management, any ride personnel, volunteers or veterinarians, the American Endurance Ride
Conference, the County of Ventura, the National Park Service, California State Parks, or any private land owner for any
accident, injury or loss that might occur due to my participation in the ride or related activities. I hereby release any and
all of those persons or organizations from all actions, claims, or demands that I, my assignees, heirs, distributees,
guardians, and legal representatives now have or may hereafter have for injury or damage resulting from my participation
in the Malibu Endurance Ride or related activities. I agree to indemnify any and all of those persons or organizations
from any damages or expenses, including attorney’s fees, occasioned by claims made by me or on my behalf relating to
the ride. I have carefully read and understand this Liability Release. I fully understand its contents and my signature
below constitutes acceptance of the above terms and conditions.

General Info: Both distances require an experienced, well-conditioned horse/rider team; this course will challenge you
both. This is a technically challenging ride and you and your horse should be well conditioned for the event. Both
courses are rated moderately difficult.
Entry Fee: Entry fee includes camping and awards dinner for the rider, park service use fees, the ride, vet exams, drug
test fees, hay, bran, carrots at Vet Checks, and completion awards.
Base Camp: Base Camp is located at Southland Farms, 2666 Triunfo Canyon Rd, Agoura Hills, CA 91301. This 85+ acre
ranch is a horse boarding facility so please respect the boarders and their facilities. There are nice camping areas, horse
water, a covered arena, and a picnic area. There is a store across the street for those little things you forgot and the
store also has great sandwiches, especially the tri-tip and chicken.
Trail: This is a scenic and mountainous course on fire roads, single-track trails and a little pavement. Trail will be varied
with challenging climbs, rocky areas and multiple stream crossings. Ride start is 6:00 AM for the 55 milers and 7:30 AM
for the 25 milers. All riders must start no later than 30 minutes past their designated time. Ride Management reserves
the right to start the ride earlier if hot weather is predicted. Vet check cut-off times will be announced. You will be riding
through State and National parks with multiple users, so please use caution. In the well-used areas of Malibu Creek State
Park you may encounter bicycles, baby strollers, umbrellas, scooters, and foreign visitors who don’t understand English.
Vet Checks: Some vet checks will not be accessible by crews. Ride management will transport crew bags to the vet
checks. Hay and carrots will be provided at the vet checks.
Team Competition: A team consists of three riders competing in the same distance. The fastest combined team ride
time for each distance will win a special award. All three members must complete the course.

Distance and 55 mile Endurance rides. Top ten awards will be given in the 55 mile ride and a Horse Excellence award will
be given in the Limited Distance.

Bowers at (818) 707-9267 to set up a check-in and vetting time.

DIRECTIONS: Southland Farms, 2666 Triunfo Canyon Rd, Agoura Hills, CA 91301. From the 101 Fwy (Ventura
Fwy): exit at Kanan Rd. Go south (towards the beach) on Kanan for approx. 1.5 miles and turn right on Triunfo Canyon
Rd. Southland Farm’s entrance is the first driveway on the right. There is another Southland entrance on Kanan; don’t
use it because it doesn’t access base camp. Camping is allowed on both sides of the creek. From Pacific Coast Hwy:
Take Malibu Canyon/Las Virgenes Rd. north to the 101 freeway. Take the 101 Fwy north towards Ventura. Exit at Kanan
Rd and follow directions above from Kanan. Motel, gas stations, fast food, restaurants and liquor store are less than 6
miles from Base Camp. There is a great store just across Kanan Rd. Please patronize them as they have generously
allowed us to use their restaurant equipment to prepare our staff lunches and they have great Tri-tip!! Please call 818-
707-9267 if you need further directions.
