Welcome to the latest Mushin no shin newsletter!

Below you will find the major news articles that have appeared on the web site over the last month. I
thought it would be nice to include these articles for those of you who haven't been visiting the website
regularly so may not have seen them!

One of the articles you need to be paying particular attention to is the one titled 'Early Warning'. It
contains information regarding training sessions during the month of December. We don't want you
turning up to Aikido and find yourself watching the school play instead!

The first aid course that we were planning to hold this month looks more likely to take place in the
early part of next year, hopefully in January. Could those higher grades that attend on a regular basis
and would like to attend this course please make yourselves known to Paul or me as early as possible.
We can accommodate 8 people on the course, 4 places are now taken. (Sensei Julian, Sempai Paul,
Andy, and me). For more info you know how to contact us so please ask!

As you know the number of students we have has risen dramatically since we opened up in September.
We currently have up to 19 junior student members and 16 adults training on the mats during any one
session! We are looking very closely at starting up a class on a second night. Currently we are looking
at a Thursday night. We would really like your feedback on this, mainly for the junior members. If you
are a parent or guardian of a current junior student please could you let us know if you would like
your child to attend on either a Tuesday, a Thursday, or both nights. We need as much feedback as
possible to help guide us as to the best approach to planning our way forward and to try and
accommodate for future training schedules. We are also looking to purchase more mats in the early
part of the new year to increase our training area to help accommodate these numbers.

Finally, the website has been updated recently. The news page now appears as the homepage giving
you up to date information without having to traverse the many pages on the site to get to it! ;) Also,
you will now find a new menu option marked user cp. The cp stands for control panel! If you click on
this you will be asked for your email address and a password. To access this page your initial
password is obtained by typing in mushin followed immediately by the student's date of birth in
DDMMYYYY format, e.g. if your birthday is 25th September, 1998 then your password would be
mushin25111998. Once you have logged on you will have all the details available to you that we hold.
There are several fields which allow you to change details should your circumstances change, such as
phone numbers, address, etc. Also it gives you information regarding your current insurance details,
start date, when your membership expires, etc. You will also find options that allow you to select
whether or not you wish to receive newsletters like this, whether the student may be photographed,
and how we may use any photos that we may take. Please take the time to try it out. If you have any
comments, or are having problems using it then contact me at info@mushin-aikido.com letting me
know your thoughts. If you have not supplied a valid email address and you'd like to make use of this
facility please supply me (Rob!) with a valid email address and I will enter it in the database with your
details. Please ensure that the email address belongs to you as it may be used to remind you of your
                                       password should you forget it!

One more thing to mention. If you find yourself unable to attend please try to contact one of us and let
us know. We may be reached by email, text, web site, facebook, or even good old fashioned phone
call! If you don't know our numbers then ask for it when at your next session of aikido! We'd really
                                       appreciate it. Thanks. :)

I think that about sums it up for this month! Don't forget, regular visits to the web site will keep you up
to date with what's happening. There's a forum there for you to use if you wish. We also have a
Facebook site so visit our website, click the link, and try it out!

The web site can be found at: http://mushin-aikido.com.

News articles from the web site follow.
Website Shuffle (posted by Rob, 20 November, 2009 @ 12:56 pm)

I thought I'd just shuffle a couple of the pages about on the website to make it a little more accessible.
The original home page that used to face you on first visit to the site has now been renamed to 'about
us' and has shuffled along to 2nd position on the menu allowing me to put the news first. I think this is
an overall better position for the news page as you can be updated with the latest happenings as soon
                                               as you visit.

There is now a link to our facebook page on the home page making it easy for you to find us and join
                                                 in.

The register page will shortly disappear as it served its purpose before we started the club to give us
some feedback on who would be interested. It will be replaced with a control panel page where you
will be able to see what details we hold on you and allow you to update your details when your
circumstances change. It will also provide you with other information such as your start date, current
insurance details, membership details, etc. and a chance to automatically (un)subscribe to our
                                         occasional newsletters.

If you have any comments on these changes, or would like to see anything in particular added or
changed relating to our website, please join the forum, if you haven't already done so, and air your
views there. If we consider your ideas to be viable and employable then we'll do our best to include
                                                 them.

First Aid (posted by Paul, 19 November, 2009 @ 8:03 pm)

Mushin Aikido will be holding a first aid course before Christmas ( if all goes to plan ) for instructors
and those who attend on a regular basis and who are interested in doing so. Please see Rob or reply
via email, text facebook etc. If you are interested the course will be held on a Saturday or Sunday,
somewhere local and will be free to all mushin members. The certificate will be for first aid in the
workplace and will be taken by Patrick's colleague.

Many thanks to Patrick for the contact.

                 Early Warning :) (posted by Paul, 18 November, 2009 @ 8:20 pm)

Just a quick news item to let everyone know what's what over the Christmas period.

Sessions will continue as normal until December 8th, this session clashes with a school play and so
will take place on THURSDAY December 10th instead. December 15th will be the final session before
                                            Christmas.

We should resume on January 5th and will work towards two sessions per week in 2010.

Please see Rob at the dojo for more info.

FaceBook (posted by Paul, 16 November, 2009 @ 8:31 pm)

I think I have just formed a FaceBook group......have a look and see if it works here...

                                     Our Mushin Facebook Page.

If it doesn’t work let me know and I'll have another bash.
Busy Week (posted by Paul, 15 November, 2009 @ 10:15 am)

First of all, we would like to congratulate Iain, he was awarded his Yellow belt ( 8th Kyu ) and
became the first person to be graded by Mushin no Shin Aikido. Well done Iain!

On Saturday, six of us attended the Dai Ichi course held by Sensei Hoddy at his dojo in Canvey Island,
Essex. It was great to see everyone, well nearly everyone ( no names ) wearing their Mushin badges.
:) I personally thought it was one of the best courses I have attended, very friendly atmosphere, very
clear coaching and enough information to last a life-time! Thanks to all those who took the time to
come along and special thanks to Rob for doing the driving.

I know everyone would highly recommend the future ZETAR courses based on what we saw on
Saturday. See Zetar Aikido for more information on courses held by Sensei Hoddy and his members.

Our thanks go to Shaun for providing us with this photo from the day.
