Chinese
Rahni can introduce herself in Chinese and can greet her teacher/adults, as well as friends. Rahni
has learnt numbers 1-20 and can imitate models of short sentences such as 'I like swimming.' 'I don't
like table tennis.' Rahni enjoyed learning about the Chinese 'red packet' and making greeting cards
during the Chinese New Year. Although Rahni understands the meaning of a number of words
related to food and sports, she needs to practise pronouncing them and pay closer attention to the
way the teacher pronounces them. Rahni also needs to increase the number of characters she can
recognise and use. To help Rahni increase her learning of characters, she will be given a new
character to learn each week. You could assist Rahni's learning of Chinese by encouraging her to
say and write characters for you.
