LAPPONIA JEWELRY INTRODUCES SPRING COLLECTION 2009

NORDIC DESIGN WITH AN INTERNATIONAL TOUCH

Charismatic jewelry design with sculpture-like forms create the unique style of
this Nordic design company. At Inhorgenta Lapponia presents its Spring
Collection 2009 with 21 new designs. Nature, bold forms and outstanding world-
famous designers such as Mies van der Rohe provided an inspiration for this
year´s collection.

Additionally Lapponia will continue with its opera concept presenting the second
opera jewelry in cooperation with the distinquished Savonlinna Opera Festival.

JEWELRY DESIGN WITH CLEAR FORMS

Lapponia Spring Collection 2009 introduces expressive, state of art forms and
innovative combinations of architectural designs and brilliantly cut stones. Nature,
bold design and outstanding world-famous designers such as Mies van der Rohe
provided an inspiration for this year´s collection.

One of the cornerstones of the Collection 2009 is CONTEMPO, a necklace with
extremely refined simplicity. Designer Björn Weckström says the greatest source of
inspiration for this piece was the work of the German-American architect Mies van
der Rohe, an early 20th-century herald of modern architecture. This necklace
combines onyx, rock crystal cut by Bernd Munsteiner and sterling silver.
Weckström´s silver jewelry BALLARO is inspired from the dynamic and riveting
movements of ballet. Ballaro - I shall dance – is the message of the feminine figure
moving on the jewelry surface.

The youngest designer of Lapponia team, taiwanese-born Chao-Hsien Kuo continues
with her popular SUMMER ROMANCE series with golden bracelet and earrings. A
novelty, silver necklace JOY has the airiness of a mellow summer breeze, refreshing
and pleasant on a sunny day.

INSPIRATION FROM NATURE, ART AND CULTURE

HIZ – a H-shaped pendant is characteristic style of French designer Christophe
Burger. It is a combination of powerful surface with delimited forms by shiny bars. A
strong dialogue emerges between these two elements. As its name indicates, the Hiz
necklace may also be worn by men. Silver necklace HOURS is an appropriate
interpretation of its shape. The necklace pieces link up and continue into each other
like the hours on a clock face, reminding us of the passage of time. The polished H-
shaped mirror surface interrupts the velvety soft surface of the necklace in the way of
the full hours on the clock face.

Hungarian designer Zoltan Popovits created CLAUDEM pays homage to the world
famous artist Claude Monet and his Water Lilies paintings. The centrepiece is a
beautiful water lily surrounded by leaves. A reflection, a mirror image on the water,
is a good way to describe the surface of the jewelry MIRAGE designed by Popovits.
The contrast of the soft matt surface interrupted by a polished mirror surface creates
a harmonious and sober whole

Water is Pekka Hirvonen´s favourite theme: golden DIAMOND FLOW is a liason of
gold and diamonds, inspired by water and stream´s surface glittering with the long
rays of the sun. BLUE WAVE reflects the shimmers of the sea.

JEWELRY AND OPERA IN 2009

This concept, launched in 2008, brings together two different art forms – passionate
opera music and sculptural jewelry. Part of the new cooperation with the Savonlinna
Opera Festival Lapponia introduced Björn Weckström´s Sehnsucht (Yearning), which
was inspired by an encounter between baritone Tommi Hakala and Professor Björn
Weckström at Inhorgenta 2008.

Opera theme continues with a new Lapponia Opera design in 2009 with designer
Chao-Hsien Kuo.
