					            Wyandotte Roosevelt High School Rowing Fitness Standards

Rowing is a physically demanding sport. Much of the rower’s success is determined by his/her
level of physical fitness. Ergometer scores best reflect the physical preparedness of a rower.
Elite high school male rowers generally score between 6:10-6:35 on a 2K Test.

Varsity Men (12th graders, Senior Eight and Senior Four)
To be considered for Varsity Boats a rower must meet these minimum standards.

Minimum Erg Scores (ideal scores):

      6,000 meters under 24:00 minutes (22-23 min.)
      2,000 meters uner7:15 minutes (6:10-6:50 min)
      Row at least 13,500 meters in 60 minutes (15,500-17,000 Meters)

Other standards:

      Run 1 mile in less than 9:00 minutes
      50 sit-ups in less than 2 minutes

Novice and Junior Varsity Men (Those who do not make the Varsity Boats)
A rower must meet these minimum standards to race. Those failing to meet these standards may remain on
the team as long as they show effort and progress.

      6,000 meters under 27:00 minutes
      2,000 meters under 8:30 minutes
      Row at least 12,000 meters in 60 minutes

Other standards:

      Run 1 mile in less than 11:00 minutes
      35 sit-ups in less than 2:00 minutes
