                             Vergeer returns in Miami
The stars of the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour will compete alongside their able-bodied counterparts
for the second time this year when the Nasdaq-100 Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships get
                             underway in Miami on Wednesday.

One of six Masters Series events, the Nasdaq-100 Open sees the return of women’s world No. 1 Esther Vergeer (NED),
who has completed her rehabilitation after foot surgery earlier this year. In Vergeer’s absence, Florence Gravellier (FRA)
captured the year’s first Masters Series title in Sydney, defeating Jiske Griffioen (NED) in the final. However both players
will need to produce something special to prevent Vergeer from winning a fourth title in Miami.

The men’s event sees Robin Ammerlaan (NED) and David Hall (AUS) renew their intense rivalry at the top of the world
rankings. Having started the year as world No. 1,Hall lost his position after the Australian circuit and will be looking to
defend his title to keep up the pressure on Ammerlaan. Like Vergeer, world No. 3 Michael Jeremiasz (FRA) is also making
his first appearance of the year after surgery, while No. 4 Stephen Welch (USA) and No. 5 Martin Legner (AUT) will ensure
an exciting tussle for a place in Sunday’s final.
