The Pearson Peacekeeping Centre (PPC) is seeking to create a pool of qualified Project
Managers, Project Officers, Junior Project Officers and Learning Design Officers to work
on various international projects. Based in our Ottawa Office, these are term positions to
be filled pending project funding approval.

A not-for-profit, Canadian-based institution, the PPC is dedicated to improving the
effectiveness of peace operations. Using a multi-disciplinary and activity-based learning
approach, the PPC teaches and trains those who serve in conflict and post-conflict zones,
including civilians, military personnel and police officers.

Candidates for these project-related positions must be legally able to work in Canada at
the time of application. Successful candidates must be prepared to perform duties in
Canada or at overseas locations on a frequent basis, and in a variety of cultural and
geographic environments. Candidates must be bilingual (English and French) in both
oral and written communication. Fluency in German and/or Spanish are assets.
Candidates should have knowledge of Results-Based Management (RBM) and Problem-
Based Learning (PBL) methodologies; and experience working in training and/or
capacity-building are assets for these positions. The ideal candidate will have some field
experience as an international practitioner in a government, military, police or non-
governmental organization (NGO) or international organization capacity in peace
operations, preferably in Africa.

Project Managers

The Project Manager shall ensure the quality of learning services through the
management of project activities including such duties as: developing statements of work
and planning for projects; preparing and maintaining activity budgets; liaising with
stakeholders; coordinating logistical support; establishing course timelines; and,
submitting reports as required.

The successful applicant will have: a Master’s degree in International Relations,
International Project Management, or Project Management; a background that includes
police, military or non-governmental organization (NGO) experience; served as part of a
peacekeeping mission; a proven ability to work as part of a team; and the ability to lead
small group discussions as a facilitator. The successful candidate will possess excellent
written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in
diplomatic circles, with embassies, and with governments.

Salary Range: $57,430 - $74,181

Project Officers

The Project Officer shall ensure the quality of learning services by ensuring that events
are planned and executed in an effective manner through duties related to the preparation,
coordination, and execution of key events and documents.
The successful applicant will have: a Master’s degree in International Relations or
relevant field; field experience as an international practitioner in a government, military,
police or non-governmental organization or international organization capacity in peace
operations; previous police or military experience; a proven ability to work as part of a
team; excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability to adapt to
changing venues and priorities and to conduct and organize meetings, conferences, and
seminars.

Salary Range: $50,251 - $62,216

Junior Project Officer

The Junior Project Officer shall provide direct support to a project team and perform
duties such as assisting in preparation/execution of project activities, coordinate logistical
support of program activities, participate in the learning product evaluation process;
conducting project related research and analysis and provide accurate and timely support
for reporting to donors in a Results-Based Management Framework (RBM).

The successful applicants will have: a university degree in International Relations or
relevant field; some field experience as an international practitioner in a government,
military, police or non-governmental organization or international organization capacity
in peace operations excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability
to adapt to changing venues and priorities; effective planning and organizational skills
and a proven ability to work as part of a team.

They must also have experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary Range: $35,894-46,662

Learning Design Officer

The Learning Design Officer shall provide support to clients and partners in the
development and the maintenance of learning materials. The incumbent shall perform
duties such as: reviewing course evaluations and follow-up to ensure that learning
materials are effective and up-to-date and support program goals.

The successful applicants will have: a university degree, preferably at a Master’s level, in
Adult Education or related field; and/or post secondary training in political science,
international relations or related field; and demonstrated experience in the design,
development, delivery and evaluation of adult education learning products. As well, the
successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic; strong interpersonal skills; well-
developed oral and written communication skills; well-developed facilitation skills; and a
proven ability to work with varied groups including senior people who have military,
police, diplomatic or humanitarian experience.

Salary Range: $50,251 - 62,216
