HOW TO USE THE DELL PRINTER/ SCANNER/ COPIER The Dell inkjet printer / scanner / copier is a compact user-friendly product suitable for office / domestic purposes. Being able to perform all three tasks using the same machine saves you both space and money. As an additional advantage persons with very basic computer skills and minimal computer experience can operate it with ease. Equipment and supplies To get started with the Dell inkjet printer/scanner/copier, you will need: Few sheets of paper, A4 size A paper document, e.g. a certificate or a page from a newspaper/magazine A few transparencies Photo paper
Using the printer In order to take printouts of documents/ photos, you need to learn the following steps: Loading paper To load the sheets of paper: 1. Place the paper against the right side of the paper support with the print side facing you, and the top of the paper feeding into the paper support.
2. Squeeze and slide the paper guide to the left edge of the paper.
Warning: Do not force paper into the printer To load transparencies: Place the transparency against the right side of the paper support with the rough side facing you.
To load photo paper: Load the paper vertically against the right side of the paper support. The glossy side faces you. Warning: To avoid smearing ink, remove each transparency or photo from the paper exit tray before the next one exits the printer. Transparencies and photos may require up to fifteen minutes to dry.
Note: Before you begin copying, scanning, printing, refer to the information below about how much paper the printer exit tray can hold. The printer paper tray can hold: 25 sheets of paper 10 sheets of labels 1 transparency 10 envelops 10 cards 1 sheet of coated, photo, or glossy paper Print Documents 1. Load paper 2. With document open, click File Print. The Print dialog box appears.
3. To change the printer settings, in the Print dialog box, click Properties, Preferences, Options, or Setup (depending on your program or operating system).[ The Print Properties dialog box displays.
4. On the three tabs along the left side (Quality/Copies, Paper Setup, and Print Layout) of the Print Properties screen, confirm the selections. 5. Click OK or Print, depending on the program or operating system.
Printing photos 1. Load photo paper. 2. With your document open, click File Print. 3. To change the printer settings, click Properties, Preferences, Options, or Setup (depending on your program or operating system). 4. The Print Properties dialog box displays. 5. On the three tabs along the left side of the Print Properties screen, confirm the selections. 6. Click OK or Print, depending on the program or operating system. Warning: When using photo paper make sure the glossy side is facing you when you insert the paper into paper support.
Using the copier/scanner In order to copy/ scan documents/ photos you must know the following steps. Placing your document on the scanner glass 1. Open the top cover of the printer/scanner/copier.
2. Place the item you want to copy face down on the scanner glass.
Warning: Make sure the upper left corner of the front of the item aligns with the arrow. 5. Close the scanner lid to avoid dark edges. Copying 1.Place your document on the scanner glass. 2. Make sure your computer and printer are on.
3. To access the Dell All-In-One Center, click StartProgramsDell PrintersDell AIO Printer A920 Dell All-In-One Center 4.The All-In-One Main page appears. The All-In-One Main Page has four sections: Scan, Copy, Creative Tasks, and Preview.
5. Click Preview Now to see your scanned image. 6. Select a quantity and color for your copies. To further customize your copy job, click See More Copy Settings 7. Click Copy Now. Scanning The following steps show how to scan and save images: 1. Place your document on the scanner glass. 2. Open the Dell All-In-One Center. The All-In-One Main page appears. The All-In-One Main Page has four sections: Scan, Copy, Creative Tasks, and Preview. 3. Click Preview Now to see your scanned image. 6. Adjust the dotted lines to fit around the part of the image you want to print. 7. From the Send scanned image to: drop-down box, select your scan destination. To further customize your scan job, click See More Scan Settings. 6. After customizing your image, click Scan Now.
Editing scanned images With most graphics programs, you can customize your image.
1. From the Dell All-In-One Center, scan your image to the image editor of your choice. 2. Edit the image using the tools available in your program. You may be able to: Remove Red eye Crop your image Add text to your image Adjustments to the brightness and contrast of the image Flip or rotate your image Change colors
