(7) “Motor Cruiser” a boat, sometimes high powered, with one or two engines, capable of speeds in excess of 20kph and having sleeping accommodation. “Speedboat” a smaller type of boat with one or two engines, having a max. length of 7.5m, capable of speeds in excess of 20kph, including a ski boat, probably with no berths. “Motor Boat” a more traditional boat for motor cruising, displacement or semi displacement, having berths and capable of lower speeds only. “Jet Skis” includes Jet Bikes and all types of personal watercraft. “Fishing Boat” any power driven smaller boat or dinghy normally used, or capable of being used for trolling, fly fishing, with or without cabin or cuddy, having a smaller engine not capable of producing speeds in excess of 20 kph. “Yacht” a sailing boat having an auxiliary engine either inboard or outboard whether normally used for navigation or not. “A RIB” normally a “speedboat” under the above definition unless the engine size is not appropriate for this designation. (8) “Engine Manufacturer” means for example, Yamaha, Suzuki, Evinrude, Mercruiser. (9) This is required to assist in the allocation of an appropriate registration number. (10) See byelaws originally promoted by Clyde River Purification Board, under terms contained in the “Rivers (Prevention of Pollution) (Scotland) Act 1951”. THERE IS NO CHARGE TO REGISTER YOUR BOAT WITH LOCH LOMOND & THE TROSSACHS NATIONAL PARK. When you register your boat you are given, without charge, two Annual Marks, a copy of the Byelaw Booklet and a card to assist you in the recognition of buoys marking the navigational hazards of Loch Lomond. Loch Lomond - A Guide to Navigation (fold out chart) is currently out of print and will be available after the new byelaws have been agreed. You MUST display the Registration Number that has been allocated to your boat in the prescribed manner. (You will be given an explanatory leaflet). The Registration Number consists of four numerical digits and a pre-fix letter which must all be displayed on a white background. You may use your own numbers but for your convenience, they are available for sale when you register. Boat owners are strongly advised not to use the waters of Loch Lomond, especially in a power driven boat, without first taking all reasonable steps to ensure they are aware of its navigational hazards.. The Authority is subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004, and the paper copy of your Boat Registration Form may be made publicly available on request.
