                  Cheerleading Tryout Information Packet
                                2010-2011

We are pleased you would like to participate with the Hillgrove Junior Hawks
cheerleading program. We, at Hillgrove, feel that cheerleading is a rewarding and
exciting sport that teaches teamwork, dedication, academics, leadership, school
spirit, and hard work. Being chosen to represent Hillgrove as a cheerleader is an
Honor. As a Hillgrove cheerleader you will be in the spotlight and need perform to
the best of your ability, throughout the year. With this in mind please read the
following information and discuss with your parent or guardian, so that you are
fully aware of the responsibilities and commitment being asked of you as a
Hillgrove cheerleader.

While deciding whether or not to be a part of the cheerleading program at
Hillgrove, please remember and consider all the time and effort this sport will take
on both students and parents; practice after school, sign painting, weekend games
and competitions. Due to the fact that cheerleading is a team sport, one person’s
inability to follow through on their commitment affects the entire squad.

In addition to the time commitment and the academic load, consider the financial
commitment as well. Please consider ALL of these factors before deciding to
tryout.

Please feel free to contact Dana Railey at railey_dana@yahoo.com with any
questions or concerns.

We look forward to an exciting tryout and wish each and every one of you the best
of luck!

considered excused. Students with academic obligations will not be

or miss practice. Word of mouth is not acceptable.

Games

Cheerleaders are required to cheer for FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL.
Quitting the squad prior to the completion of the season will decrease your chances
of making the squad the following season.

Any cheerleader that participates in a cheerleading Allstar Program will have the
option if they want to cheer or not for basketball. The reason for this is that the
Allstar programs have extensive practices and competitions during the basketball
season. As most of the Allstar programs work with our schedule we like to try and
extend that same courtesy.

an hour prior to game time.

family. All other reasons will be viewed as unexcused and you will be
      penalized.

Transportation
• Parents/Guardians are responsible for providing transportation to and from all
practices and games. Please communicate any problems you may have with
transportation to your coach or team mom.

Hillgrove Junior Hawks Cheerleading Attendance Policy

As a member of the Hillgrove Junior Hawks Cheerleading Program, you are required to
contribute your part. When one person is absent the whole squad suffers and causes
ineffective practice time. As a result the following attendance rules are necessary and
      will be enforced.

      1. All appointments such as doctor’s orthodontist, etc. MUST be scheduled around all
cheerleading activities. Early release from or late arrival to practices and/or
         performances is unacceptable.
      2. Cheerleaders MUST be present at all practices, games, playoffs, performances,
fundraisers, pep rallies, sign painting sessions, camp and any other activities
designated by the coach. Note: Cheerleading duties are often scheduled with little
         advance notice.
      3. All excuses are at the discretion of the coach and each will be addressed on an
         individual basis
      4. If being sick is a continuous issue/excuse for a cheerleader not attending games
and/or practice then a doctors excuse must be provided ASAP!
