									                      Third Grade Spelling Homework
Here is another “pink sheet” to use for the next semester. Remember that spelling
homework is always due on Thursday.

o 1. Word Scramble: Create a word scramble puzzle using all of your spelling and
challenge words. Someone can create the puzzles for you or you can create a
double puzzle on puzzlemaker.com Complete the word scramble or double
     puzzle. Example: auyrnaj _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (January)

o 2. Double Doodle: Alphabetize your spelling words. Write each word one time
normally and one time in double doodle by holding two colored pencils together
     while writing. Example:

o 3. Word Wagons: Alphabetize your spelling words. Write each word as a
“word wagon” by writing the beginning and ending letters on each wheel and
using the word as the wagon bed.
                           Example:

o 4. Tic Tac Toe: Choose a spelling word and play Tic Tac Toe with a partner.
You will have 20 games of Tic Tac Toe because you have to do each spelling word
once. (Moms, dads, brothers sisters, etc. can do X or O.) Tic Tac Toe board
paper is available on the website.

o 5. Cross Words: Alphabetize your spelling words. Write each spelling word
across and down using the same beginning letter. Circle the beginning letter.
                          Example: w h e n
                                    h
                                    e
                                    n

o 6. Syllable puzzles: Alphabetize your spelling words. Write each of your words
as syllable puzzle pieces that lock together. You may need to look up the words
     in a dictionary. Example:
                                            un der stand
o 7. Star Words: Alphabetize your spelling words. Write each of the words in
the shape of a star. Example:

o 8. Hangman: Have a partner make up phrases or sentences with your spelling
words in them. Play hangman with the phrases or sentences.

o 9. Smiley face words: Alphabetize your spelling words. Write each word in
smiley faces by using the beginning and ending letters as eyes and writing the
complete word as the mouth. Example:

o 10. Consonants and vowels: Alphabetize your spelling words. Put a circle
around all the consonants and a square around all the vowels. (Be sure to leave
space between your letters so that I can read the words.)
                               Example:
                                        understand

o 11. Alphabetize: Alphabetize your spelling words. Then write them again from
z-a, instead of a-z. Turn in both lists.
                                 Example: a-z z-a
                                                    January understand
                                                    list spelling
