Welcome to March and out next edition of City Golf. A lot has been happening at Moore Park since our last
edition.

After a relatively dry end to 2008 and start to 2009, we have now seen more rain in the first half of February
than in the previous three months combined. While all the wet weather isn't great for the golf experience on
the day, I'm sure you'll agree with me that our course is back to being as green and lush as it has been over
the past year and a half. The tragic news of the Victorian bushfires has spread far and wide but having
travelled to both Melbourne and Adelaide visiting some very bare and brown golf courses recently it illustrates
(firstly) how dry it is in the southern states and (secondly) how good we have it with our rainfall here in
Sydney.

Many people are asking and wondering aloud as to how the golf industry will be affected by the current
economic situation we find ourselves in. While it remains to be seen, I can report on 3 indicators in particular
that show that golf isn't faring too badly:

I've recently had the pleasure of attending the PGA Merchandise Show in the United States. This trade
show is hosted by the PGA of America and is universally regarded as the biggest and best of its type in
the world of golf. Combining industry seminars with a 25,000m2 product exhibition and over 1,200
exhibitors (that's over four times the size of our exhibition halls here in Sydney) the general feeling at
the Merchandise show illustrated that golf is certainly alive and well
I'm also happy to report that the amount of golf being played at Moore Park is well up over the
previous 3 years and that the membership levels of the MPG Club are also at their healthiest levels for
some time. We've put a lot of work into making sure we've got a great product in all areas – course
quality, driving range, hospitality and membership benefits alike – and are confident that this is the
most important reason for our recent success.
Readers of Golf Australia should keep an eye out for an article titled "What Crisis" in the most recent
March issue (the one with Robert Allenby on the cover). This article argues that golf in Australia is in a
healthy state and specifically cites the Moore Park Golf Course as the prime example!

To do our bit for the golfing economy, we've released our very own "Golf Stimulus Packages" just in time to
coincide with Kevin Rudd's economic stimulus package. Read on for some great MPG deals that are not only
good for the golfing economy but will do wonders for your game as well.

In closing, when you are next in the pro shop keep an eye out for the brand new Srixon/Cleveland range of
clubs that we've just introduced. Srixon/Cleveland will also be joining our regular demonstration events on the
range. Read on for more details or ask any of the pro shop staff when you are next in.

Moore Park Golf has recently become an official stockist of the industry leading Srixon & Cleveland Golf
manufacturers. Read on for some information on these brands and be sure to enter this month's
competition for a chance to win a new Cleveland Launcher Driver & Srixon Z-Star Balls.

Largest Face Ever - Launcher

At an astounding 21% larger than both the original Launcher 460 and
Launcher Comp, it is the largest Launcher face to date, allowing generous
room for miss-hits resulting in maximum forgiveness.

Thin Crown Technology - Launcher

At only a half millimeter in thickness, the new Launcher crown is the thinnest
possible, moving every bit of potential weight low and deep to improve the
center of gravity, optimize launch conditions and maximize distance.

Weighting - Launcher

The horseshoe-shaped weight pad on the rear perimeter of the sole
significantly improves launch conditions and stability on miss-hits by
localizing weight low and deep, improving both MOI and center of gravity
location.

Srixon Z-STAR Balls

The Z-STAR and Z-STAR X are designed to offer best-in-category performance
for players seeking the improved distance, spin, and feel preferred by Tour players and competitive
golfers worldwide. The Srixon Z-STAR and Z-STAR X golf balls use ultra-thin urethane cover technology,
a larger core and a softer cover to radically improve distance, spin and feel. The Z-STAR is the softer of
the two balls providing exceptional feel. The Z-STAR X will be, for most players the longer of the two
balls with its slightly firmer feel. The new Srixon Z-STAR ball line is now being played by PGA TOUR
professionals Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk, Boo Weekly and Robert Allenby.

editorial.

Well what a start to the 2009 PGA Tour and Fed-Ex Cup season. The "Aussie" and my pick for the US
Masters Geoff Ogilvy kicked off the season with a win in the Mercedes Benz Championship then it was Zach
Johnson winning the Sony Open. Good to see two world class players winning!

The next tournament the Chrysler Classic was won by Pat Perez. Pat is a Pro Shop favourite at Moore Park,
with the boys betting on him regularly over the last few years but to no avail. It was good to see Pat win
and good for the boys in the Pro Shop as we all collected.

After the Chrysler Classic was the FBR Open in Arizona, the eventual winner was the seasoned Pro Kenny
Perry, winning in a playoff over Charley Hoffman. The real winner though was the Par 3 16th hole, which
was a first in golfing history where the hole was surrounded by grandstands, what a sight!

Then came the Buick Invitational, I bet the Pro's were happy that Tiger Woods wasn't playing as he has
won the last four. The eventual winner was Nick Watney, who played a great last round, 4 under 68 to beat
who I thought would win, John Rollins.

Just a quick tip before I sign off, if there are any punting golfers out there, put your money on Camillo
Villegas to win in the next couple of weeks. Look forward to giving you a wrap up of the PGA Tour in the
April City Golf Newsletter and as I always say "Drive for show and putt for Dough!"
