Brisbane City Council has put together a FREE weekend of music, theatre, performing arts and visual arts embracing all
corners of the Valley arts community. Incorporating the Mexican Day Of The Dead theme, Valley Fiesta 2009 is set across
three stages – Naked All Sorts Mall Stage, SAE Brisbane Street Stage and the Chinatown Mall Theatre Stage.

In addition to the already announced program, Valley Fiesta also welcomes a number of Satellite Events running in conjunc-
tion with Fiesta throughout the weekend. These include Hope For Our Homeless, Zombie Walk, It’s Bazaar Fashion
Market and Free Doors across a number of venues in the Valley.

Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman said this year’s Fiesta had been returned to its roots as a community event, with
theatre acts, art works and markets all complementing the music.

“Valley Fiesta has arrived again and I’m thrilled that we were able to save it and bring it back bigger and better than ever,”
Cr Newman said.

“This year we’ve worked hard to return it to a more community-friendly event and I encourage everyone to come down and
experience what Valley Fiesta is all about.

“And while you’re there make sure you pop into one of the many local shops and restaurants and give them a hand during
these tough economic times.”

Cr Newman will be joining Valley Fiesta for a special opening ceremony featuring Chrislyn Hamilton (Australian Idol) and Kev
Carmody at midday on Saturday at Brunswick St Mall.

CityCare Brisbane’s Hope For The Homeless event raises awareness and funds for the most marginalized of Brisbane
society. The event will involve a street sleep the night of Friday, October 23rd as well as markets on Saturday. However, the
main event is the fantastic concert featuring SKIPPING GIRL VINEGAR, SKINNY JEAN, HUNZ, MONTPELIER, NEW
EMPIRE, MODERN JOY, SUNFLOWER, MARK LOWNDES, DAVE DOW & THE ORBITS and A JAM SESSION at Alfred
St, Fortitude Valley on Saturday, October 24th from 12pm.

Presented by Cara Westworth and her zombie followers, the Zombie Walk is now in it’s fourth year of raising money for the
Brain Foundation of Australia. Departing from Wickham Park at 3pm on Sunday, October 25th the zombies will lurch through
to the Valley, picking up donations on the way. Join the masses for the day of the dead and get your best zombie gear and
gore on. All are welcome.

If you’re into fashion, then the It’s Bazaar Fashion Market at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts is for you.
Featuring some of the Valley’s most coveted boutiques including Nelson Molloy, The Outpost, Blonde Venus, Ultra Suite
and Lucid Laundry, the market will also include special theatre guests dropping by!
