Collecting a 24 hour urine sample

Store the container upright in a cool place away from children and pets.

Instructions
1. On the first day, empty your bladder into the WC, not into the container.
Note and record the time and date on the empty container at the start of
   the 24-hour period.
2. Save all urine passed over the next 24-hours in the container provided.
3. 24-hours after the first discarded sample, empty your bladder again and
add this to the container. Note and record the time and date on the
container as the end of the 24-hour period.
4. Please check that your full name, hospital number (if known) and the times
and dates of the urine collection are written clearly on the container.
5. Please bring the container, together with the request form, to Pathology
reception at the Royal Berkshire Hospital (8.30am-4.15pm), West
Berkshire Community Hospital (8.30am-5.00pm), Monday to Friday.

It does not matter which of the hospitals you take your sample to so you
can go to whichever is most convenient for you. Bring in your urine sample
and request form on the day you finish your 24-hour collection and hand
them to a member of the Pathology staff.
