Steam train tickets to go on sale

Don't miss your chance to jump onboard the Q150 steam train when it visits Gladstone in
April as part of the State's 150th anniversary celebrations.

Gladstone Regional Council and QR are working together to give residents the opportunity to
jump on board the steam train during a stop over at Gladstone on its journey to 30
     communities in Queensland.

Gladstone Regional Council Director of Community Services Cale Dendle said tickets would
go on sale at 8.30am on Wednesday, March 11 at Gladstone Railway Station.

Limited tickets will also be available at Council's Miriam Vale and Calliope offices and also the
Rural Transaction Centre at Agnes Water.

"Tickets are limited so residents will need to get in quickly. We are also limiting purchases to
four tickets per person," Mr Dendle said.

Two trips to Mt Miller, a 30km round trip, have been organised for a total of 460 passengers.

Tickets will be $5 per seat.

Mr Dendle said tickets could not be purchased over the phone and pre-bookings were not
     being accepted.

The steam train arrives in Gladstone on Saturday, April 18 at 12.30pm and departs at
     12.45pm on Sunday, April 19.

The 220 passengers on board will stop over at Gladstone accommodation providers on the
     Saturday night.

Mr Dendle said short trips for residents during the train's stop over in Gladstone would depart
on Sunday, April 19 at 9am and 10.30am respectively, taking 65 minutes for each round trip
     to Mt Miller via Callemondah.

Residents are invited to welcome and send off the steam train during the Q150 event at the
     train station.
