Latest Disaster Recovery Statistics Here are the latest recovery statistics from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) concerning recovery activities in the aftermath of severe storms and flooding, Sept. 12 – Oct. 6… Through the close of business Wednesday, Nov. 19: • Over $29.2 million in disaster recovery grants approved for Indiana residents with property damages. o $24,534,724 for housing o $ 4,704,114 for other needs • 24,713 residents of Indiana applied for assistance online at www.fema.gov or through the toll-free 1-800-621-3362 and (TTY) 1800-462-7585. • 16,501 SBA loan packets issued; $19,180,700 in loans for homeowners and businesses approved • 29 damage inspectors in the field • 33,075 residents visited disaster recovery centers (inc. applicants for state food stamp program) All DRCs are now closed as of cob Friday, Nov. 14. The final application deadlines for Disaster Unemployment Assistance is Dec. 8 for Franklin, Gibson, Jasper, Ohio, Orange, Posey, Ripley, St. Joseph, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties. Applications are being taken at any WorkOne Center or online at http://www.in.gov/dwd/4141.htm. Free Disaster Legal Services are available in designated counties. Call 1800-266-2581, 8:30 and 4:30 Mon.-Fri. for assistance with insurance claims, repair contracts, replacement of legal documents, mortgage foreclosure, and landlord/tenant issues stemming from the disaster. IA designated counties: Clark, Crawford, Dearborn, Floyd, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Knox, Lake, LaPorte, Lawrence, Martin, Perry, Pike, Porter, Scott, Spencer, Switzerland and Washington. Additional counties added by the Nov. 5 amendment are: Franklin, Gibson, Jasper, Ohio, Orange, Posey, Ripley, St. Joseph, Vanderburgh and Warrick. The registration deadline is Nov. 24.
