A Cultural History: In 1964 the first Sofitel opened its doors in Strasbourg, France, marking the beginning of
what would become one of the most beloved brands of luxury hotels. Ten years later, Sofitel
made its way across the Atlantic Ocean to plant its French roots in the United States. During
the next 20 years, Sofitel would grow and expand before finally joining the organization of
the multi-brand Accor group in 1997. Since that time, Sofitel’s development has boomed
internationally to span five continents.
and Suites: Designed to exemplify the epitomy of ―l’art de recevoir,‖ Sofitel guestrooms and suites
reflect the hotel’s identity, cultural surroundings and are uniquely designed to maximize
space, allowing the guest to make the room his or her own. All Sofitel guestrooms and suites
are intended to awaken the five senses:
Sound: sound-proofing, acoustic comfort
Sight: original decoration, warm tones
Smell: non-smoking rooms, the scent of freshly laundered linen
Taste: room-service, welcome cocktail
Touch: softness of bed linen, craftsmanship of materials, welcome products
Sofitel boasts an exclusive custom bedding concept, MyBed that guarantees a serene sleep.
MyBed incorporates a state-of-the-art mattress produced exclusively for the hotel brand by
one of France’s elite bedding companies, Epéda. The mattress absorbs movement, and the
springs are intelligently distributed to provide higher density in areas which bear a greater
load, ensuring balanced support. Significant to the concept are the feather/down filled
mattress pillow top, four down-filled pillows and a light-weight duvet.
