D. Edward Carbonaro of Franconia, NH, formerly of Westwood, MA, died peacefully
surrounded by family on January 27, 2010 at the age of 81. He was born in 1928 in
Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Catherine (Mandracchia) Carbonaro.

Edward attended New York City public schools and graduated in 1946. After high
school he enlisted in the Army serving as a medic and receiving an honorable discharge,
he then attended Bethany College earning a bachelor of arts degree in 1951. After
graduation Edward moved to the greater Boston area where he married Natalie Daniell
and together they raised 4 children. Edward worked for New England Telephone and
Telegraph Company for 39 years, retiring with his wife to their home in Franconia in
1990. In 1977 the family moved to Tehran, Iran, where Edward worked on a project to
expand and improve the telephone system, until the 1979 Iranian Revolution.

Edward loved travelling, skiing, golfing and the outdoors. He served the community of
Franconia as Selectman and a member of the zoning board of adjustment. He also served
as president of the Profile Club in 1999 and 2000.

He is the beloved husband of 58 years to Natalie (Daniell). Devoted father of Edward
(Ted) Carbonaro and wife Nancy of West Newton, MA, Jill Carbonaro Paquette and
husband Richard Ryder of Medfield, MA, Peter Carbonaro and wife Anita Pelusi of
Georgetown, MA, and, Robert Carbonaro and wife Carol of Wellesley, MA. Loving
grandfather of Danielle (Paquette) Hamann and Michael Paquette, Nicole (Carbonaro)
Quin, Justin, Brianna and Connor Carbonaro, and, Katherine and Michael Carbonaro. He
also leaves his brother, Victor Carbonaro and wife Betty of Great Neck, NY, two cousins:
Dr. Charles Palminteri of Port Charlotte, FL and Dr. Domenic Mandracchia and wife
Zulma of North Hills, NY and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to Ross Funeral Home, 282 West Main Street, Littleton on
Friday, February 5, 2010 from 4-6 p.m. Donations in Ed’s memory may be made to the
Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115-6084. For more
