UNLV is an AA/EEO Institution Certificate in Non-Profit Management ase Ple re Sha http://edoutreach.unlv.edu NEW NON-PROFIT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Division of Educational Outreach, in collaboration with United Way of Southern Nevada, announces the creation and implementation of a New and Enhanced Certificate in Non-Profit Management. The new program, modeled on the Principles for Good Governance and Ethical Practice, developed and published by the Panel on the Nonprofit Sector in October 2007, focuses on developing and improving competency in four (4) main categories: • Legal Compliance and Public Disclosure • Effective Governance • Strong Financial Oversight • Responsible Fundraising The new curriculum will include four (4) required Core Courses, as well as Advanced Courses covering topics such as Volunteer Management, Program Development, Executive Leadership, Board Leadership, Collaboration and Consensus Building, Fiscal Management, Fundraising and Donor Support, and Program Outcomes and ROI. While the Core Courses will be delivered in a traditional face-to-face classroom setting, the Advanced Courses will be offered utilizing a blended learning ecology involving formats such as traditional classroom instruction, an on-line component, case studies, role playing, and interactive learning modules. The first Core Course offered as part of the new curriculum will be Ethics in Non-Profit Governance. It will be offered during the Fall/08 semester. Specific class dates will soon be announced. Notice to Students Currently Attending the Existing Non-Profit Management Certificate: Students enrolled in our existing Certificate in Non-Profit Management who desire to complete the classes necessary to earn a Certificate will be given the opportunity to do so by registering for and completing all the classes they require no later than August 31, 2009. After that date, the existing program will be phased out. Existing students needing to complete any of the three (3) required classes, Leading the Non-Profit Organization, Strategic Planning for the Non-Profit, and the Non-Profit Corporation in Nevada, should be sure to register for any or all of them during the Fall/08 semester. That will be the last semester that the three (3) required courses in the existing non-profit program will be offered. During the Spring/09 and Summer/09 semesters, an additional seven (7) classes will be offered to enable current students to finish their Certificate requirements under the existing format.
