LETTER OF INTENT FOR COOPERATION
Between … … And University Center for Euro-Mediterranean Studies (Center EMUNI) Slovenia
Committed to the objectives of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, Supporting the creation of the Euro-Mediterranean Area of Higher Education and Research, Confident that the initiative of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia with regard the establishment of the Euro-Mediterranean University constitutes an important step forward with this regard, Taking into account that Slovenian initiative has achieved an important academic support by the 2007 Alexandria Declaration of the IV. Euromed Permanent University Forum, and an increasing political support, e.g. by the 2007 Cairo declaration of the first Euro-Mediterranean Ministerial Conference on Higher education and Scientific Research, and recently (inter alia) by the Conclusions of the 9th EuroMediterranean Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (Lisbon, November 2007), Noting that the major aim of Center EMUNI, which has been recently established by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, is to prepare and fulfil the necessary conditions for the establishment of the new Euro-Mediterranean University and in the meantime, to co-ordinate the study process and other activities with partner universities and institutes (study programmes, summer schools, short courses, students and staff mobility, conferences, workshops ...).
Have agreed as follows: The signatory parties agree to join their efforts to encourage and to develop the following forms of cooperation:
1. Co-operation with regard the establishment of the Euro-Mediterranean University with its seat in the Republic of Slovenia, 2. Offering of the existing and preparation of new study programmes, including joint study programmes, and research projects, in the framework of the EuroMediterranean University, 3. Co-operation with regard the establishment and work of the International Academic Council, 4. Other forms of co-operation.
The signatory parties are committed to jointly develop specific agreements on the points above in the spirit and purpose of this general letter of intent.
