Template for Letter of Notification to Assigned Schools Title I SST 2008 August 2008 Superintendent ________ Public School District Address City, State Zip Code Dear ________, As you are aware, the state Title I office is required by federal law to form a yearly technical assistance group known as the Title I School Support Team. The purpose of this team is to serve as a resource for educators in North Dakota that are working to implement Title I programs and especially for schools identified for program improvement. Members of this team provide assistance to educators in a variety of fashions and have extensive experience in implementing Title I programs at the school level. There are six team members statewide; selection is based on experience in Title I and various program improvement issues. In July 2008, the state Title I office completed its initial training session with the six team members, and during that meeting, contact assignments for each school in program improvement were completed. We are please to inform you that for the 2008-2009 school year, __________ has been assigned as the contact for your school. Throughout the school year, ______________ will be making four contacts, one each quarter, to your school to provide insight and assistance regarding any program improvement questions and issues you may have during the year. Throughout the year, the state Title I office provides all School Support Team members constant updates on the latest information in Title I law so that they, in turn, may provide the most updated information to you. Members of this team are involved in monthly telephone conference calls with our office and staff from North Central Comprehensive Center (NCCC) on pertinent program improvement issues. Team members also serve as program improvement plan readers, assist the state Title I office in finding program improvement resources, and attend the annual Program Improvement Workshop. For the 2008-2009 school year, the state Title I office is also assembling a new team of individuals that are available as outside experts. During the school year, your school may choose to contract with any of these individuals to provide further assistance including intense telephone support and onsite consultation. This team is referred to as the Statewide System of Support (SSOS) Consultant Team. Members of this team will be chosen from submitted and scored RFP’s. Members of the Title I School Support Team, and possibly even your assigned contact individual, may be a member of this specialized team. During each quarterly visit, team members will ask contact questions to find out how they may assist you with program improvement issues. If, during your telephone visits, you need further assistance on specific issues, please ask your assigned member for an individual(s) that you may contract with who are a part of this team of external experts. We hope the assembly of this resource team and the quarterly contacts of your assigned Title I School Support Team member will be of assistance to you and your school. At the end of the year, we will be asking for your input in evaluating these resources in order to drive our efforts for the following school year. If you have questions on the Title I School Support Team or the SSOS Consultant Team, please feel free to contact me at nwirtz@nd.gov or (701) 328-1876. Sincerely, Nita Wirtz, Assistant Director, Title I cc: ___________, Building Principal
