Want to earn
While you
our Fitness
could make it
happen For you.
an apprenticeship
is it For you?
Whether you are just leaving school or have been working
for years and are thinking of starting a new career, an
apprenticeship may be just the right option for you.
But you do have to be at least 16 years old (depending
 on industry regulations).
You’ll need a positive attitude and a lot of commitment
because an apprenticeship is equivalent to five
GCSEs grades A – C. It generally takes between
12 and 15 months to complete.
Don’t worry, Catch22 will be there for you. And you
can start when you want and complete it at a speed
          which is right for you.
          Once you’ve completed your apprenticeship
you can go onto an Advanced Apprenticeship.
This allows you to take your training further to
become a supervisor or manager in the future.
Advanced Apprenticeships include a Level 3 NVQ
(equivalent to 2 A-levels) and will take between
          18 and 24 months.
Want to earn
While you learn?
If you are looking for a job that helps you carry on learning
or you already have a job but want further qualifications,
our fitness instructor apprenticeship could be the option for
you. Working with an employer, you’ll learn skills and build up
knowledge as you go which will lead to nationally recognised
qualifications. In other words, you will earn while you learn.
Health and fitness instructors are responsible for teaching
people how to exercise in a safe and effective manner. Our
apprenticeship means you could work in a private gym or
independent health club, leisure centre or a golf club. You’ll
deliver group exercise classes, such as circuits then become
more advanced to give one-to-one tuition as a personal trainer.
You will devise routines for their exercise classes, choose
music and check that the necessary equipment is available,
such as weights, steps and mats.
Health and fitness instructors often work in a shift pattern,
which can include early mornings, evenings and weekends.
Gyms are usually open from 7am until 11pm so be prepared
 for an early start.
You’ll need an interest in a healthy lifestyle, nutrition and
 exercise, you should also:

 • have good communication and interpersonal skills
 • be physically fit
 • be outgoing and friendly
 • have drive and enthusiasm to motivate people.
