Dear Cooperating Teacher, The field experiences are the very core of teacher education. Without practical application time for students to apply the theories learned, our teacher candidate would indeed be less prepared. The laboratory experience that the public school sites provide is the most precious of resources. By acting as a mentor to a Teacher Candidate you are not only giving back to the educational profession, you are giving back to your communities at large. Please be sure to review the section for Cooperating Teachers in the Student Teaching Handbook (http://lynx.csusm.edu/coe/fieldExperience/index.asp). Our mission statement and the chart of expectations will help guide your coaching. Please review the Cooperating Teacher Brochure in your CT Packet. A minimum of three years of teaching experience is required to host a Teacher Candidate. Please complete the “Cooperating Teacher Review” form at the end of the semester and send in the return envelope provided. Your feedback is an invaluable tool for our continuing development as an institution. Also be sure to complete the Cooperating Teacher Stipend form at the start of the semester and return to Lynn Dee Harris. (lharris@csusm.edu). If this form is not returned, you will not be paid.
