									                                 Employment Contract

This agreement is entered into this 1st day of (Month, Year), between the _________________,
employer, and _____________, Executive Director, employee.

In consideration of the mutual promises and benefits to be derived by the parties, they agree to
the following:


1. Employee is being hired as an Executive Director to perform the following general duties:
     Carrying out the mandates and directions of the Board of Directors in accordance with
     the Strategic Plan, and with following the priorities of the annual work plan established
     by the Board. (Strategic plan and Annual work plan attached as part of this document.)

       The leadership of the Executive Director includes: handling the business and
       administration of ________ in an efficient and effective manner, raising the necessary
       funds to accomplish the annual goals of the organization, providing services to the arts
       field as directed by the Board, educating the public and advocating for the arts on a
       local, state and national level, and positively representing ________ to partners, funders,
       and stakeholders.

       The employee also agrees to perform additional duties incidental to the general job
       description.

4. Evaluation of the performance of the employee shall be conducted on an ongoing basis by
   the Board president and Board of Directors, resulting in a formal written evaluation at least
   annually, prior to the anniversary date of this Agreement. The evaluation shall be based on
   an annual performance plan to be mutually developed by Director, President and officers.
   The annual performance plan shall include measurable goals and objectives for _____ and
   the Director, taking into account the financial and staff resources made available.

5. _____will pay or reimburse employee for reasonable and necessary business expenses
   incurred by him/her, which are directly related to the performance of his/her duties of
   employment, including travel, professional memberships and professional development,
   within budget limitations, subject to documentation by Director and approval by Board of
   Directors.
6. The employee agrees to abide by all rules and regulations of the employer in existence at
   the time of employment and which are from time to time added.

7. The employee may cancel this Agreement by giving the employer at least one (1) months
   advance notice in writing. _________ may also cancel this agreement by giving the
   employee at least one (1) months advance notice in writing.

8. No modification or amendments shall be made to this contract unless in writing and signed
   by all parties.

9. This agreement is the complete understanding of the parties with respect to the employment
   of the employee by the employer and supersedes all prior agreements or understandings,
   written or oral, relating to the same subject matter.

10. This contract is governed by the laws of the state of ________.


Should any disagreement arise between the parties as it relates to employment, each party
shall be responsible for their own attorneys' fees and court costs.
