Applicants	to	the	Foundation	Diploma	in	Art	&	Design	are	required	to	
have	a	strong	portfolio	of	their	recent	art	and	design	work,	and	be	expected	
to	meet	the	following	minimum	academic	entry	requirements	at	enrolment:	
	 •	3	GCSEs	at	Grade	C	or	above,	and	
    1
	 •		 	GCE	A	Level/AVCE/	BTEC	National	Diploma/GNVQ	
    Advanced	Diploma
    A
	 •		 pplicants	whose	first	language	is	not	English:	IELTS	level	5.0	English	

We	welcome	applications	from	students	who	do	not	have	formal	
qualifications	or	those	from	a	non-traditional	background	and	are	
pleased	to	consider	alternative	qualifications	and/or	relevant	
experience,	subject	to	the	portfolio	requirement	being	met.	

Please	send	your	completed	form	to	reach	your	chosen	College	
by	Friday	29	January	2010	at	the	latest.	You	should	consult	College	
prospectuses	and	websites	before	making	your	choice.	Addresses	
of	the	Colleges	offering	the	Foundation	Diploma	course	are	given	
on	the	reverse	of	this	form.	

PLEASE NOTE
You	may	only	submit	one	application	form	to	the	university.

If	you	are	expected	to	meet	the	entry	requirements	for	the	course	you	will	
be	invited	by	letter	to	attend	for	a	portfolio	review:	You	should	contact	the	
College	if	you	have	not	received	this	invitation	by	Wednesday	24	February	
2010.	You	will	be	notified	by	the	College	of	the	outcome	of	your	application	
by	Friday	26	March	2010.	

If	your	application	is	not	successful,	you	will	be	informed	of	those	UAL	
Colleges	where	there	are	vacancies,	and	given	details	of	how	to	make	
one	more	application	through	the	clearing	process.	Portfolio	reviews	for	
courses	with	vacancies	will	take	place	during	the	week	of 26 April 2010.
Appointments	will	be	offered	on	a	first	come	first	served	basis,	and	the	
courses	will	close	to	applicants	if	all	slots	are	taken	before	16	April	2010.

POrTfOLIO/ ArT ANd dESIgN wOrk SubmISSION
Applicants	who	do	not	live	in	the	UK	or	are	for	exceptional	reasons	
unable	to	attend	for	portfolio	review	should	complete	Section	J	and	
send	either	a	portfolio	or	other	forms	of	art	and	design	work	in	
accordance	with	arrangements	which	will	be	specified	by	the	College.	

Applicants	will	be	expected	to	arrange	for	collection	of	their	portfolio	after	
their	application	has	been	considered,	and	will	be	notified	by	the	College	
when	this	is	ready	for	collection.
