                               Wembley Wins Eastern Finals
in Canadian Young Horse Jumper Development Series
Palgrave, Ontario – One month after the
Western Canadian Champions were
crowned at the Fort Langley Summer
Festival held at Thunderbird Show Park in
Langley, BC, the Eastern Canadian Finals
of the Canadian Young Horse
Development Series were held during the
CSI-W Tournament of Champions from
September 20-24 in Palgrave, ON.

Wembley emerged victorious to take
home the Seven and Eight-Year-Old
Eastern Canadian Championship title
for owner Chadburn Holdings. Only four
horses advanced to the jump-off in the
class with three jumping double clear and
finishing with close times, but it was
Wembley, guided by Canadian Olympian Wembley, ridden by Mac Cone and owned by Chadburn Holdings,
earned the 2006 Eastern Canadian Champion for Seven and Eight-
Mac Cone of King City, ON, who was Year-Olds during the CSI-W Tournament of Champions held
fastest, clocking in at 38.21 seconds. September 20-24. Presenting is Canadian Young Horse Jumper

"We feel very lucky to have discovered Wembley," noted Mark Samuel of Chadburn Holdings. "He has
tremendous scope, wants to be careful, is a quick study, and is brave. We very much look forward to
exploring his potential next year."

Finishing in a time of 38.24 seconds for the Reserve Championship title was Distant Star 3E, ridden by
Colombia native, Roberto Teran. Bred through embryo transplant by owner KingRidge Stables of King
City, ON, Distant Star 3E is a seven-year-old Canadian Sport Horse by Class Action out of Betwixt by
Night Twist.
Having settled for the Reserve Championship title in the Seven and Eight-Year-Old Division, Teran
would claim the Six-Year-Old Eastern Canadian Championship for KingRidge Stables. Riding
Encore 3E, a Canadian Sport Horse gelding by the KingRidge stallion, Class Action, out of Alley Cat by
Emilion, Teran was one of only two riders that advanced to the jump-off from the 20-horse starting field.
Teran and Encore 3E laid down a clear round in a time of 40.86 seconds over the shortened jump-off track
set by course designer David Ballard that could not be beat.

That meant that the other jump-off challenger, Divine Diva piloted by Michelle Vandal, won the Six-
Year-Old Reserve Championship. A Canadian Sport Horse mare owned by Vandal and Julie van Wieren,
Divine Diva was bred by Jim Mackay of Dobbinton, ON, and is by the thoroughbred sire, Vice
Chancellor, and out of a Clydesdale mare.

Goliath toppled the competition to win the Five-Year-Old Eastern Canadian Championship for owner
and rider Brock Clermont, 22, of Newmarket, ON. In the Four and Five-Year-Old Divisions, the horses
receive half of their score based on performance, and the other half based subjective marks from the style
judges. In this case, Goliath jumped clear for a perfect score of 50, and was awarded the day's highest
style score of 45 by style judge and Olympic Gold Medalist Jim Day for a total of 95 points to claim the
championship title. Goliath is a Scottish Sport Horse by the well-known Dutch Warmblood sire
Concorde, and out of a dam by the Belgian Warmblood stallion, Calgary.

Frieda took the Five-Year-Old Eastern Canadian Reserve Championship, having also won the Ontario
Five-Year-Old Reserve Championship title. Owned by the KMA Group and ridden by two-time
Canadian Show Jumping Champion Ainsley Vince, Frieda is by For Future by For Pleasure and out of a
Graf Anhalt dam. The mare jumped a faultless round, and was given a style score of 43 for a total of 93
points.

Having won the Ontario Four-Year-Old Championship, Allegro also claimed the Eastern Canadian
Championship for owner Mill Creek Stables of Cambridge, ON. A clear jumping round and a style
score of 43 for a total of 93 easily gave Allegro the Championship title over 13 other entries. Ridden by
Rafael Annunciacao of Brazil, Allegro is an imported Hannoverian gelding by All in One and out of a
Ritual dam.

"Allegro is a great horse because he is always ready to play and he is scopey, careful and easy to ride,"
noted owner Phil Henning of Mill Creek Stables. "Allegro had three different riders this year and he did
well with each one. The hardest thing with a horse like this is remembering how young he is - he shows
so much talent and ability that we have to remind ourselves that he is still only four."

One of the busiest riders in the Eastern Canadian Championship was Hyde Moffatt of Brantford, ON, who
rode no less than four of the top 10 entries in the Four-Year-Old Division. It was aboard Or de Vy that
Moffatt took the Reserve Championship title for owner Mark Hayes. A clear round and a style score of
39 points for a total of 89 placed Or de Vy second in a field of his peers. Or de Vy is a Belgian Sport
Horse by Fidji du Fleury by Le Tot de Semilly while the dam is Obsession Clair de Lune by Kashmir van
Schuttershof.

The purpose of the Canadian Young Horse Jumper Development Series is to encourage the development
of young show jumping talent and to give Canadian breeders additional incentives to breed superior show
jumping prospects. Competing on a level playing field, the horses are divided according to age and jump
at a level suited to their development. This careful development allows the horses to gain valuable
experience and advance to the higher levels of show jumping competition with confidence. The Canadian
Young Horse Jumper Development Series also gives prospective buyers for the hunter and jumper
markets an opportunity to view a large group of prospects in a competition setting. The 2006 Canadian
Young Horse Jumper Development Series included events in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British
Columbia.

Proud supporters of the Canadian Young Horse Jumper Development Series include Jump Canada, the
Ontario Hunter Jumper Association, 4 Star Trailers, TD Waterhouse, Scotia McLeod, Peter Miller,
