Check your oxygen, adjust your space suit and buckle up for the biggest mission of your life…One Small
Step is a 60 minute action-packed, fast and funny, full-throttled trip to the moon!
Directed by Toby Hulse, the play’s two actors, Robin Hemmings and Oliver Millingham, bring dozens
of characters to life in a brilliantly inventive exploration of the space race. One Small Step shows how
it's possible to land on the moon with little more than buckets, cardboard boxes and a thermos flask.
Following its UK tour and smash hit return season at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, One Small Step
embarks on a worldwide tour, kicking off at Sydney Festival.
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the moon landings, One Small Step is the space-race in a 60 minute
nutshell, showing the triumphs and determination by both the United States and the Soviet Union to be
the first to send a man to the moon. From the first dog to be rocketed into space, to the moon landings
and beyond, One Small Step is full of real emotion, intense moments, epic achievements and laugh
aloud humour.
The result is an eccentric, funny and surprisingly moving piece of visual theatre. Magically conjuring
dozens of characters with the aid of simple household objects, as well as creating the famous Apollo,
Gemini and Sputnik capsules from buckets, lamps and cardboard boxes, One Small Step captures the
imagination of audiences of all ages.
Based in Oxford in the UK, Oxford Playhouse presents and produces a wide range of live performance.
Their program includes the best of British and international drama, family shows, contemporary dance
and music, student and amateur shows, comedy, lectures and poetry. The Playhouse also produces and
tours its own shows, hosts artists-in-residence and presents an ongoing series of off-site events which
happen at locations across the county.
One Small Step is a Family Event, suitable for ages six and up.
One Small Step is part of About An Hour – short shows for just 30 bucks a ticket! Making its first
appearance in 2006, About An Hour is back in 2010 with a new bunch of shows that are easy on the
