WARRINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL CHILDREN’S SERVICES DIRECTORATE JOB DESCRIPTION SECTION: Sure Start Team (Early Years and Childcare) POST TITLE: Childcare Development Officer (Out of School) GRADE: £14,787 - £17,985 REPORTS TO: Childcare Manager MAIN PURPOSE o To support the provision of childcare for children aged 0 – 14 (16 for children with SEN and disabilities) in private and voluntary sector settings. o To support partner settings in establishing services for children including appropriate support to the family, and child development opportunities based on learning through play. o To support settings in establishing sound management practice and viable/sustainable services. o To comply with the National Standards for under 8’s day care and out of school care throughout the duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post. o To support settings in working towards the outcomes of the Every Child Matters agenda and the core offer attached to Children’s Centres and Extended Services in Schools DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. To offer support, advice and guidance to individuals, private/voluntary sector organisations and schools on the establishment of quality out of school childcare 2. To support the delivery of quality out of school childcare in established settings 3. To offer guidance on sustainability and viability for out of school childcare including sign posting to appropriate sources of funding 4. To work with the Business Support Officer assisting with the completion and monitoring of grant applications 5. To liaise with staff within the Sure Start team on all aspects of the delivery of quality childcare 6. Work in partnership with teams employed to support the Preventative Strategy with regard to the delivery of the core offer for Children’s Centres and Extended Schools. 7. To develop an in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation covering out of school childcare, keeping abreast of changes/developments as appropriate. 8. Other duties relevant to the post as directed by line manager.
