Hawthorne Elementary Newsletter June 2009 I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the students, staff, and parents at Hawthorne for the opportunity to be your principal the last four years. It seems every year we faced some sort of change and every year we worked together to keep making Hawthorne a better place to learn and grow. I know that the staff at Hawthorne will continue to nurture the culture and climate that make it a great school. Your new principal, Mr. Russell, is looking forward to some opportunities still this year to meet students, staff and parents. He is very excited about joining the School District of Waukesha and has heard great things about Hawthorne. A special thank you to the parents, students, and staff that came out last Thursday to surprise me with an evening in my honor and the gift of a new leather desk chair. I certainly did not expect anything like that to happen in my final weeks at Hawthorne. It was especially nice to have the chance to spend time together and express my appreciation for what you have done for me. I will remember this gesture forever. Looking forward, please be sure to see that students remain academically active this summer in some small way in order to maintain their present skills. The public library has outstanding programs for kids to take part in and they can offer you assistance in selecting “just right” books for your children to be reading. Look for a handout coming home next week from our reading specialist, Wendy Hamilton. She will have some more ideas for you and information on dates and times when the Hawthorne library will be open for students this summer. I hope that every Hawthorne family has a relaxing summer and that students return in the fall ready to learn. Sincerely, Mr. Kluck Staffing Changes for 09-10 As a result of staffing changes district-wide, we have some changes at Hawthorne for next year.
