					        Connecting to Secure Cass Wireless Network
                       MAC OS 10.5

Introduction

This document describes how to connect to the Cass Wireless Network.
Some wireless network adapters are often bundled with software from the
manufacturer. It's recommended that you disable this software and use
Microsoft's built-in configuration tool instead.


Requirements
MAC OS 10.5 (Leopard)

Please ensure that you have at least Mac OS 10.3 + to be able to connect to
Cass wireless network.

Mozilla Firefox

It is advisable to use Firefox as your web browser while in Cass. If you have
not got Firefox installed already, then please come and see the Helpdesk so
we can install this for you.

MAC OS X 10.5 WIRELESS SETUP

Step 1
   • Click on the blue apple at the top left hand on the screen
   • Select System Preferences from the Apple menu
   • Click the Network icon in the System Preferences window:

   • Ensure AirPort is on and click the Advanced button

            • Click on the 802.1X tab
            • On the Domain drop down window select Login Window
            • Select PEAP for Authentication
            • Enable 802.1x login
            • Select Cass in the Wireless Network drop down menu
            • Select Get Certificate, you should get the Certificate
                bus017ap.city.ac.uk in a popup box, select always trust this in tick box
            • Now select Airport Tab.

                                                                              Tick PEAP only

         Step 4
            • If Cass already exists in the Preferred Networks window, highlight it
                and press the – button to delete. To add Cass click the + button

     Step 5
        • Click on Show Networks and select Cass from the list
        • For Security select WPA Enterprise
        • Enter your username/password
        • For 802.1x select WPA: Cass (if this is not available then select
            automatic)
        • Click Add

     Step 6
        • Click on the TCP/IP tab and select Using DHCP for the Configure
            IPv4 option

Step 7
   • Disable AirPort and then enable it. The Mac should then try to
       authenticate to Cass with the newly created profile.
   • When prompted enter your Cass username and password and click
       OK

                                                                    Click OK




   •   If prompted click continue to verify the certificate.

You should now be connected to Cass.

                Internet Proxy settings for Mozilla Firefox

    •   Launch Firefox, select Tools and then Options (fig 1)
    •   Select Advanced, and then just below select the network tab
    •   Click the Settings button
    •   In the Connection settings box, click on the button that says Manual proxy
        configuration (fig 2)
    •   In the HTTP Proxy box, type wwwcache2.city.ac.uk
    •   In the port box type 8080
    •   Tick the box that states use this proxy for all protocols
    •   Click OK
    •   You should then be asked for a username and password, this is your CASS
        login details (e.g. abct135) (fig 3)
