                SERIOUS ROAD TRAFFIC COLLISION – A75
Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision that occurred on
the A75 on Friday 24 April.

The collision took place at around 21.30hrs on the A75 Dumfries by-pass at Nith Bridge,
Lincluden.

A local 17 year old girl was struck by a car and was taken to DGRI to receive treatment to
head injuries sustained. She was later taken to the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh
where her condition is currently described as life threatening.

Constable Jim Cowie said: “We are appealing for witnesses to come forward and are
particularly interested in speaking to the driver and passenger of a red coloured artic lorry
who were the first westbound vehicle on the scene and may have witnessed the incident.

“We would also like to speak to an off duty nurse who initially helped to look after the
casualty prior to the ambulance arriving.

“Anyone who was in the area or witnessed the incident is asked to contact us on 0845 600
5701 or any police officer. Information can also be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on
0800 555 111.”

Police report that the A75 Gretna – Stranraer road between its junction with the A76 road and its junction
with the A701, Dumfries will be reopened within the next 30 minutes

Police report that the A75 road is currently closed between its junction with the A76 road and its junction with
the A701, Dumfries. Diversion are in place Westbound - off at Glasgow Road (A76) roundabout into town
rejoining A75 at A701.

Eastbound - Reverse order.
