									Job Description: Account Director

Spannerworks require an Account Director to develop and implement natural search strategy in order to increase
business and proactively retain and develop our existing portfolio of clients while maximising their ROI. You will be
a commercial thinker with bags of energy to spearhead Spannerworks’ natural search service and will be
responsible for the development of a team of account managers and executives.
To be successful you will possess a full understanding of the current search marketing market as well as related
emerging technologies and online media opportunities.


Responsible to:             Client Services Director
External relationships:     Clients; e-commerce and marketing managers and their board of Directors
Internal relationships:     Senior Management, Account Management team, Sales team, SEO team, Marketing and
                            Finance teams
Salary:                     £35,000 plus performance related bonus scheme
Hours:                      9am – 5.30pm
Location:                   Brighton, UK




Main duties of the post:

    Oversee Spannerworks full portfolio of Pay per Click and Natural Search clients by managing and coordinating the
    account team to achieve and exceed clients ROI objectives. You will also manage your own portfolio of clients
    Strengthen client relationships through proactive account directorship
    Maintain client satisfaction to an agreed target
    Maintain client retention to an agreed target
    Strengthen client relationships through proactive account directorship
    Actively seek to increase the services offered to PPC and SEO clients and increase the income generated to
    Spannerworks to agreed individual and team targets
    Working closely with the client services director to agreed operational efficiency targets and business objectives
    Have an in-depth understanding of the financial status of the full Spannerworks client portfolio
    Increase client spend as a percentage of their total marketing budget
    Prepare commercial client proposals and attend pitches with the sales team
    Develop and direct effective search engine marketing campaign strategies through direct liaison between all involved in
    the project team including account management, business development and SEO teams
    Prepare and present to the Board sustained high quality management information reporting on a monthly and quarterly
    basis
    Plan and implement efficient processes and systems within the account team
    To represent Spannerworks and speak at industry events and tradeshows on the subject of search engine optimisation,
    emanating a professional manner and polished appearance
    To identify new business opportunities and increase our paid for search portfolio
    Lead the development of Spannerworks paid search service, ensuring Spannerworks remains at the forefront of
    product development within the paid search industry
    Develop, manage and negotiate with high level contacts within all major vendors of PPC media and technology
    suppliers
    Develop processes that help to accurately forecast and planning media spend
    Manage company financial performance of the paid search service

Client satisfaction:


    Generating results that deliver the clients anticipated ROI objectives
    Continually strengthen and forge excellent client relationships through proactive directorship and communication
    including face to face meetings, telephone, conference call and email communication
    Ensuring clients are satisfied measured by achieving a target client satisfaction rating or above in the annual client
    satisfaction survey
    Actively maintaining the agreed client retention rate measured quarterly, through strategic management and planning
    Employ excellent listening and probing questioning skills to fully understand:
     -   the client and their industry sector
     -   the client’s products and services
     -   the client’s marketing objectives
     -   the client’s Return On Investment (ROI) objectives
    Increase your awareness of client competitor online marketing activity aiding informed recommendations to the
    campaign strategy encouraging increased spend
    Ensuring all clients receive timely, high quality reporting from the account team on a monthly and quarterly basis
    Ensuring Spannerworks remains proactive with clients by regular communication in all forms through effective account
    team management
    Promote Spannerworks professionalism through manner, appearance and delivery and always keeping promises

Management:


    Maintain a high level of account team’s campaign proactivity through effective management on a daily, monthly,
    quarterly and annual basis utilising 1:1’s, reviews and PDP’s
    Responsible for effectively and successfully developing and motivating the account team to achieve company KPI’s
    and individual development goals
    Delegating workloads to ensure account team can maximise client satisfaction
    To oversee training of new account team staff and ensure staff are allocated appropriate training according to
    individual staff training needs
    Identify SEO account team recruitment needs in advance, and work with HR to devise effective recruitment strategies
    Actively improve account team’s understanding of clients’ industry, products, services, marketing and ROI objectives
    Ensure the account team follow procedure and adhere to Spannerworks documentation requirements including
    contracts, account plans, new proposals, monthly and quarterly reporting
    Develop and deliver to the team motivational strategies for up-sell and cross-sell opportunities
    Control and sign off all account team travel and other expenses. Liaise with finance department to arrange for company
    credit cards where appropriate
    Develop and share best practice between the team

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:


    A minimum of 3 years experience in online marketing
    Relevant search qualifications (e.g. Google AdWords)
    Strong client management and relationship skills
    Ability to successfully lead, motivate, maintain and grow an effective team of account managers and executives
    Proven ability to form and implement search engine optimisation strategies
    Strong listening and questioning skills with acute attention to detail
    A detailed and analytical approach to researching and analysing opportunities to increase revenue
    Commercial awareness of how your contribution impacts value to Spannerworks
    Confidence in presenting technical and marketing information in a variety of mediums to clients and colleagues
    Excellent report-writing, analytical and project management skills with acute attention to detail
    Ability to compose professionally constructed documents using MS Office
    Ability to use email and Internet applications
    Strong communication skills in all disciplines including written, oral, email and presentation
    Capable of hands on problem-solving, with ability to generate ideas and solutions
    Ability to cope with competing demands and to prioritise tasks
    Excellent organisational and time management skills
    A positive attitude to dealing with people
    Have responsibility as an individual and for your team
    Sales experience desirable
