					                                       FUEL PRICE REPORT JULY 2007

Fuel prices in mid-July are at a pivotal point: caught between lower wholesale prices and oil prices that are
nudging the record high. Since the start of July, petrol and diesel prices in the UK have fallen by a quarter of a
penny while crude oil prices have shot up 10 per cent to beyond $78 a barrel. How these high oil prices impact on
UK forecourt prices in coming weeks is a source of concern

Nationally, Unleaded prices have fallen by 0.3p per litre to 96.7ppl. Diesel prices have also
decreased slightly, by 0.2ppl to 97.2ppl. The price difference between Unleaded and Diesel
has risen from 0.4ppl in June to 0.5 pence in July.
Wales and the South West recorded the highest price for Unleaded at 97.2ppl followed by East Anglia at
97.1ppl. The North West again recorded the lowest price at 96.1ppl. East Anglia, Wales and South West
recorded the highest Diesel prices at 97.5ppl, followed by Northern Ireland and Scotland at 97.4ppl. The North
West still has the cheapest Diesel at 96.3ppl.

Supermarket prices for Unleaded also fell over the month by 0.5ppl to 95.2ppl. The gap between supermarket
prices and the UK average for Unleaded has risen slightly to 1.5ppl (last month the difference was 1.3ppl).

Overseas prices have also risen. The UK has the seventh highest Unleaded price in Europe.
