Intergovernmental Advisory Board Teleconference November 15, 2007 Minutes CIOs Identify Priorities for 2008 Attendees Otto Doll Dave Molchany Bob Greeves Frank McDonough Darlene Meskell Lisa Nelson Marshall Brown Martha Dorris The final Intergovernmental Advisory Board (IAB) teleconference for 2007, held on November 15 th, helped to set the 2008 agenda for the group of state information technology executives. Emerging issues for the upcoming year were identified by state, local and federal CIO’s, in attempt to share information of concern to and foster collaboration within their trusting and action-oriented environment. The IAB was addressed by Darlene Meskell, GSA Director, Intergovernmental Solutions and the IAB Chair. She gave an overview of the groups’ current status, expectations and mission, including the relationship shared with the American Council for Technology (ACT). IAB co-founders, Martha Dorris, GSA Associate Administrator, Office of Citizen Services and current President of ACT, joined the meeting along with Frank McDonough, former GSA Director of Intergovernmental Solutions and IAB Chair. McDonough spoke about the origin and history of the IAB, and how they envisioned the group to be self-facilitating and thought leaders, looking toward the future of information technology for the government. Emerging issues were collected prior to, during and after our meeting, along with an expressed interest for the Office of Intergovernmental Solutions to assist the IAB to function in a more collaborative manner. The issues have been prioritized in order from the most to the least number of mentions. We will draw from this list in establishing the agendas for our four 2008 quarterly teleconferences. 1. Interoperability – Communications across government levels, and connectivity. 2. Security – Privacy, safeguards, solutions, enterprise policies, security enhancement tools, and data breach issues with hardware and storage. 3. E-Discovery and Management of Records – Digital preservation, policies, strategies and procedures. Page 1 4. Virtualization, Consolidation and storage – Data center, server. 5. Green IT 6.
