POST NEWS
POST REPORT OF ELECTION FORMS/NATIONAL CONVENTION REGISTRATION: The personalized
computer “Post Election Report and instructions for the National Convention Registration forms are being mailed
in early March to all post quartermasters of record. It is highly recommended that each one of you look at filing
on- line, with the increased need for early accurate information on new post officers and the amount of Post dues.
THESE FORMS ARE TO BE COMPLETED IMMEDIATELY following the post election. DO NOT WAIT FOR
THE INSTALLATION. POST OFFICES should be elected in April. Each Post MUST register 1 Delegate to the
National Convention.
POST COMMANDERS and QUARTERMASTERS
DUTIES OF POST TRUSTEES: Commanders, your attention is directed to Section 218, Manual of Procedure,
Duty of Trustees. Trustees Report of Audit must be completed by the trustees, in detail, at the close of each
quarter, one of which ends March 31st. Commanders are reminded that all funds are under the custody and control
of the post quartermaster. Persons other than the post quartermaster, who may handle post funds, such as the Club
Manager, bingo chairman or committee chairmen, are responsible to the post quartermaster to maintain accurate
records and accounts and should be properly bonded. Post trustees are to ensure that the financial records of these
special funds are also audited in the same manner as the other accounts of the post quartermaster.
The separate mailing of a QM Kit in 2010-2011 is now a needless expense! The VFW Leadership Reference Guide
for 2010-2011 will be on-line. Historically, the Quartermaster Kit has been a very costly yet necessary expenditure
to facilitate the processing of a member’s dues. The post roster and printed kit cards alone made up 75% of the
material contained in previous year kits and the cost to produce and mail these kits was well over $150,000.00.
Just a reminder that you will not be receiving copies of the VFW Leadership Reference Guide CDs this year as part
of the Quartermaster Kits. Beginning this year, the VFW Leadership Reference Guide will be available on-line in
E-membership. More details to follow in the coming months.
NATIONAL CONVENTION
111th National Convention Housing officially opens March 1, 2010. Housing reservation information is located on
the convention website accessed through the main VFW website at www.vfw.org. The convention web site will
also have general convention information including registration form and link to other convention related
information for Indianapolis – August 21-26, 2010
Adopt-a-Unit: The next “Quarterly Purge Update” will be issued March 1st to remind VFW Posts and Auxiliaries
to submit the required annual activity report. As Adopt-A-Unit continues to grow, these reports show great
examples of troop support projects done by VFW Posts and Auxiliaries.
LOYALTY DAY: Posts are urged to start planning now for Loyalty Day observances in their community.
Requests for Loyalty Day material should be forwarded to National headquarters, attention of the Americanism
Department. Be sure to report your planned Loyalty Day Program before April 30, 2010, so that you may receive
credit this year.

post is urged to order and distribute Buddy Poppies. Poppies are $55.00 per each 500.
PROOF of ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for OFFICERS: All posts and Districts should be reminded of the
provisions of Section 216 (c) and 414 (c) of the National By-Laws and Manual of Procedure which states that
officers, elected and appointed, shall not be installed or assume the duties of their office until such proof of
eligibility has been submitted to their respective Adjutant for review. Anyone elected into office at the District
level please forward copies of eligibility to Department Headquarters.

Record book Contest year. Record books should be mailed to Department Headquarters NO LATER THAN May

beautiful. Observe Keep America Beautiful Month by volunteering to help improve your local environment and
encourage your members to participate in activities that enhance public lands and reinforce pride of ownership of
these areas.
ROTC AND JROTC AWARDS: Each year scores of high schools and universities write to National Headquarters
