POSITION               :      CONTROLLER CUSTOMER SERVICE UNIT
LOCATION               :      SANDTON
DEPARTMENT             :      TREASURY OPERATIONS
REPORTING TO           :      MANAGER: FOREIGN EXCHANGE
BROADBAND              :      SU/SP (SUPERVISOR/SPECIALIST)


PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To interface with the various Foreign Exchange clients in respect of Foreign Exchange
deals, settlements, payments, Exchange Control and queries.


KEY DELIVERABLES/OUTPUTS

   1.      Review all maturing deals prior to value date and advising customer of their
           obligations in respect of the deals and obtaining the deal payment and or
           settlement instructions for capturing in the payments system(s).
   2.      Oversee the administration, review and endorsement of documentation
           necessary to comply with SA Reserve Bank Exchange Control Rulings in
           respect of Foreign Exchange payment processing and Balance of Payment
           (BOP) reporting purposes.
   3.      Ensure all foreign commitments are settled or rolled.              Any swaps,
           discrepancies, shortage of funds are taken up with clients, Treasury Front
           Office, etc. and resolved in good time.
   4.      Oversee and Ensure ZAR Counter-values are received timeously from clients
           in respect of Outward FX payment in order to mitigate settlement risk and
           client defaults
   5.      Acts as first level interface to client in respect of queries, statutory advise,
           deal consolidations, etc.
   6.      Reconciliation of OPICS Rand Account and other, when required.
   7.      Oversee the control of Advance Payments and Regulatory compliance.
   8.      Assist other Controllers to release payments, inward and outward, when
           needed.

KEY COMPETENCIES (Skills, knowledge and personal attributes)
      Ability to liaise with management, customers, colleagues, local and international
       banks and Intermediaries.
      Compliance with relevant policies, procedures & legislation including SA Reserve
       Exchange Control regulations, payments standards, cut-off times, etc.
      Computer Literacy (Excel and Word – introductory level)
      Problem solving skills based on relevant experience (day to day problems)
      Integrity
      Ability to work under pressure
      Planning and Organization skills for periods up to ninety days
      Relevant knowledge (Foreign Exchange Payments)
      Customer Services skills and ability at an Intermediate level.
      Understanding of the KYC and FICA requirements in terms of statutory
       regulation.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF equivalent
At least 5 Years Foreign Exchange experience including Exchange Control experience.
