      Consumer Price Index (Dec 2008=100) – January 2010
     The year-on-year inflation rate (annual percentage change) for the month of January 2010 as measured by the all items Consumer Price Index was -4.8 percent,
     gaining 2.9 percentage points on the December 2009 rate of -7.7 percent.

     The month-on-month inflation rate (monthly percentage change) in January 2010 was 0.7 percent, gaining 0.2 percentage points
     on the December 2009 rate of 0.5 percent.

     This means that prices as measured by the all items CPI increased by an average of 0.7 percent from December 2009 to January 2010.

     The month-on-month Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages inflation stood at 1.81 percent in January 2010 gaining 0.13 percentage points on the December 2009 rate of 0.68 percent.
     The month-on-month non-food inflation stood at 0.30 percent, shedding 0.09 percentage points off the December 2009 rate of 0.39 percent.

     The CPI for the month ending January 2010 stood at 93.0 compared to 92.3 in December 2009 and 97.7 in January 2009.

     The month-on-month inflation rate is given by the percentage change in the index of the relevant month of the current year
     compared with the index of the previous month in the current year.
