Don't stop now! If you have any comments,
suggestions or ideas, we are all ears.
Thank you, again.

Issues. Ms. Fisher has a Masters in Counselling Psychology from the
University of Western Ontario.
Welcome aboard, everyone!
Including us--Kimothy Walker and Ron Jette--that brings to six the number
of board positions filled. Discussions are currently underway to fill the final
positions allowing the Network to operate with a seven-person board. That
number, we believe, will ensure efficiency while still leaving room for good
discussion and lots of ideas.
The game of the name
Keep your fingers crossed!
It started innocently enough. "Children's Voice Network"
was a great name for a project that would bring together
resources nationally and give a voice to those who are
sexually abused.
Except that the name was already taken (sort of).
Then we decided to go with a more descriptive name, one
that is more likely to pass though the trademark
registration system unscathed. We chose the "Child Sexual Assault Support
Network."
That was great--until someone pointed out that although we are connecting
people, programs and services, we don't offer direct support, per se. Oh,
and people (and search engines) commonly call it sexual abuse, not sexual
assault.
A little more thought, a little more tweaking and we came up with the Child
Sexual Abuse Prevention Network.
And so it will be--unless the trademark office refuses our application. We
are told by our trademark agent, Heather Boyd (who recently moved to the
law firm Mecera & Jarzyna, LLP), that although you can never be sure, we
should be in pretty good shape this time.
Mark your calendar
Seven weeks and counting...
We've selected the date and time of the launch of the
Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Network.
We are still working on the details but what we do
know is that it will be held at Algonquin College on
Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at 10:00 a.m.
The launch is set to coincide with National Victims of
Crime Awareness Week which is being held this year from April 13-19,
2008.

More details will follow but please reserve this date and time. It will be
a grand affair where we will introduce our board, make public our intentions
and announce ground-breaking research as our first major contribution.
And don't forget to bring your children! They will play a central role (as
they should!).
Please joins us--we want to show good support for this initiative. We hope
to see you there!
We've found a home on the Internet
Full site to launch in April
The Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Network can now
be found online at www.csapn.net.
This is more of a web page than a website, however, as
it is currently being used simply to keep our advisors
informed. After the Network's launch, it will be a full website designed and
written to meet the needs of its users.
Please drop in to stay informed!
