Delta Air Lines SkyMiles® Program Key Facts
The award-winning Delta SkyMiles program offers members multiple mileage-earning opportunities when flying Delta, Delta Shuttle®, the Delta Connection® carriers, Delta AirElite® and other SkyTeam® airlines. Additional mileage-building opportunities are offered through more than 100 partners. Now in its 27th year, SkyMiles is one of the longest-running and most successful loyalty programs in the travel industry. KEY FACTS: • Miles may be redeemed for Award Travel on Delta and its many partner airlines, including members of the SkyTeam alliance. Delta operates service to more worldwide destinations than any airline and is the leading U.S. carrier to Europe, Middle East and Africa. Delta and its SkyTeam partners fly to more than 500 worldwide destinations with 16,000+ flights. The SkyMiles program began May 1, 1995, but a frequent flyer program has been offered by Delta since September 1981. The program has more than 42 million SkyMiles members. Delta is the largest U.S. carrier to offer complimentary upgrades within and between the 48 contiguous states, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Central America and Northern South America.

MEMBERSHIP TIERS: • • • Tiers include Million Miler, Platinum Medallion, Gold Medallion, Silver Medallion and general membership. Delta also has an invitation-only exclusive membership level. With its 2008 Medallion Threshold Promotion, Delta offers additional benefits to members who earn more than 100,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) in a calendar year. Members may purchase Crown Room Club memberships to access the nearly 40 lounges throughout the United States, plus select partner lounges.
EARNING MILES: • • Members earn miles by flying Delta, Delta Shuttle, Delta Connection carriers, Delta AirElite, SkyTeam partners and other airline partners. The program offers additional mileage-building opportunities through more than 100 worldwide SkyMiles partners, including the Delta SkyMiles Credit Card (available in the U.S. and 11 other countries), participating hotels, car rental companies, the SkyMiles Store, restaurants, SkyMilesShopping.com, floral and gift retailers, and financial, mortgage and realty services. The Delta SkyMiles Credit Card with American Express offers consumer and small business cards. A new Delta Reserve card provides many traveler-friendly benefits, including the ability to gift MQMs, elite traveler access at the airport and upon boarding Delta flights, and Crown Room Club access. The program provides more elite mileage earning opportunities than any other U.S. airline. Members can earn MQMs through flight activities, Delta Platinum and Reserve Credit Card activity, and special MQM promotions with our preferred partners, Avis and Hilton.

USING MILES: • Delta is an industry leader in redemption options and enables members to use miles for Award Travel, merchandise, magazines and unique auction experiences. Members with a SkyMiles Credit
Card from American Express may take advantage of Delta’s Pay with Miles program and redeem miles towards all or part of the price of a Delta ticket. • • Customers may redeem miles for travel, upgrades and Crown Room Club memberships. They also may transfer miles or donate them to various charities through Delta’s SkyWish™ program. Members may use the online Award Calendar to find the most accurate, up-to-date Award availability on Delta and select partner airlines and may combine Coach and First Class/BusinessElite® travel into one Award Ticket. Ninety-seven percent of all Award seats on Delta and key airline partners can be redeemed at delta.com. Members can bid miles through the SkyMiles Online Auction for a variety of merchandise, such as unique gifts, exclusive event opportunities and exciting adventure packages. Delta’s elite members can purchase electronics, sporting equipment, gift certificates, hotel gift certificates and other exciting merchandise at Delta’s online Medallion Marketplace. In October 2008, Delta launched a new three-tiered Award structure that provides members with more flexibility and redemption options, as well as access to last-seat Award availability and the ability to combine cabins and dates at multiple mileage levels.

STATS & FACTS: • • • SkyMiles redemptions for the past three years have been relatively consistent year over year, and during that time, members have redeemed more than 9 million Award Tickets. Approximately 3 million Award Tickets were redeemed in 2007, which represented about 8% of all Delta tickets. Delta provided 600,000 Award Tickets in 2007 on dates that were blacked out by other airlines and awarded more than 50,000 seats over Thanksgiving 2007, again on dates typically blacked out by competitors. In 2007, members redeemed 22,559 items in the Medallion Marketplace. Through May 2008, 11,854 items were redeemed. Members redeemed miles for 449 SkyMiles Online Auction items in 2007 and 203 items through May 2008. Members are increasingly booking Award Travel online. In 2005, only 25% of Award Travel was booked online compared to almost 50% in 2007. The most popular Award Travel destinations are New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Orlando and Las Vegas. One Delta passenger flew 578,901 miles last year – the most of any SkyMiles member. The largest current individual SkyMiles balance is 17,032,708 miles.

INDUSTRY RECOGNITION: • • • Readers of Executive Traveler voted the SkyMiles program the best domestic frequent flyer program in 2007 and 2008. The SkyMiles program was named “Best Frequent Flyer Program” for 2006 and 2007 by Business Traveler magazine. The program received top honors for “Best Bonus Promotion” from InsideFlyer magazine at the 2007 Freddie Awards and a “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the 2006 Freddie Awards in recognition of its many contributions to the airline loyalty industry.
