Please read through this notice carefully.

Article 1: Contract Agreement

The agreement will be concluded when the student having applied for a course at the British Council gives their consent to the contents

of this registration form and the articles below and the registration application is accepted by the British Council.

Article 2: Provision of English Language Courses and Payment of Fees

1. The British Council will provide the student with the English language course they select from the British Council determined

curriculum. The selected course will appear on the registration form.

2. The student will pay the sum total of the registration fee and the tuition fee by credit card (VISA or MasterCard) at the time of

registration or transfer the sum total of the registration fee and the tuition fee before a fixed date to a bank account designated by

     the British Council.

3. Classes are grouped according to student level and class capacity upon registration in accordance with the result of the level

check test and if necessary a screening test. Existing students are counselled by the teacher to determine their next level. When

the number of students enrolled for a class is insufficient, the class may be cancelled. In this case, the entire payment will be

     refunded.

Article 3: Course Schedule

The British Council operates on a set schedule system with the period, days and time of study fixed for each class. The teacher is also

determined by the British Council.

Article 4: Start Date

The start date of this contract refers to the start date of the course for which the student registers.

Article 5: Location of courses

The British Council will hold classes at the location specified on the application form. In unforeseeable circumstances, they may be

relocated.

Article 6: Effective Contract Period

1. This contract for the course is effective for the duration of the term for which the student has registered.

2. Students who register within three (3) weeks following the Start Date (Article 4 above) are permitted to join the course providing

that no more than 30% of the course has been taught. NB:

If there are two (2) classes per week, the latest a student may join the course is the seventh class.

If there is one (1) class per week, the latest a student may join the course is the fourth class.

The contracted course length will be from when the student joins the class until the end date of the course and the student shall

pay registration fees and pro rata course tuition fees after joining the course (i.e., hours of classes after joining the course x (class
     fees ÷ total class hours).

3. Transfer between classes is normally only permitted within the two weeks following the start date.
4. Should the student wish to continue studying at the British Council after the end of the contract, he/she should submit the

continuous registration form to the British Council.
Article 7: Cooling Off
Under the Specific Commercial Transactions Law (特定商取引に関する法律), if the contract is subject to the Specific Commercial

Transactions Law (i.e., it stipulates courses exceeding two months and/or tuition fees exceeding 50,000 yen), “cooling off “will be

applied if the student submits a written document to the British Council indicating his/her intention to cancel the contract within

eight (8) days including Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays, from such date when the student signed the registration form

and received the contract. The British Council will refund the full amount to the student. In case of credit card payment, the refund

will be made to the student’s credit card; in case of payment by bank transfer, refund will be made to the bank account designated

by the student. In both cases the transfer charge will be borne by the student.

*Cooling off will not be applied if the contract to stipulates courses not exceeding two months and/or tuition fees not exceeding 50,000 yen.

Article 8: Cancellation Prior to the Commencement of the Course (after the cooling off period)

1. After the cooling off period set forth in the previous article, the student is permitted to cancel the contract prior to the start of the

course for which they have registered. The student should inform the British Council in writing that he/she wishes to cancel prior to

     the start of the course.

2. The course fee minus any cancellation fee of ¥15,000 will be refunded to the student's credit card or by bank transfer to a bank

designated by the student, in which case the transfer charge will be borne by the student.

3. In circumstances where a student’s prior cancellation of the contract is due to a situation uncontrollable by the student, such as a

change of address, illness or death of the student or a member of his/her family or change of work schedule and if the student

submits certification of change of address, medical condition, accident or death and the British Council recognises that the student

is unable to continue classes regardless of the student’s intention to study, the British Council will refund the full amount without

claiming a cancellation charge. The refund will be paid to the student's credit card or by bank transfer to a bank designated by the

student. In both cases the transfer charge will be borne by the student.

Article 9: Cancellation Following the Commencement of the Course (after the cooling off period)
