                      “Page 107”

                        Summary
Before jumping out of the helicopter to save fuel, Sawyer
made Kate promise to do a favor for him. Kate goes to
Sawyer’s hometown in Jasper, Alabama, to find his half-
sister, Eydis. Previously, Kate had received a notebook
from Ben, who had claimed she had written it. This prompts
her to visit Eydis, who is, ironically, a professor at the
University of Alabama. Sawyer wanted Kate to kill Eydis,
because she knew too much about the Hanso Foundation.
Meanwhile, Juliet and Sawyer reveal a shocking revelation
when they meet dead Olivia on the Island.
                                                              2

FLASHFORWARD
Kate is sitting in bed. There are papers everywhere, and
she looks distresses as she has the phone to her ear. She
sounds desperate.
                           KATE (OS)
                        (on the phone)
Before she died…there was a page. Page one-hundred and
seven. I don‟t understand it. It repeats the same equation.
Over and over and over. You need to tell me what it means.

                            VOICE
Kate, it‟s three in the morning-

                            KATE
                          Tell me!

                            VOICE
Kate, this doesn‟t make any sense.

                            KATE
                  It makes perfect sense!

                 (long pause at other end)

                            VOICE
Get some sleep. We‟ll talk in the morning.

                            KATE
                       But we can‟t-

                   (phone line goes dead)

                             KATE
(mumbling to herself over a piece of paper)
    four…eight…fifteen…sixteen…twenty-three….forty….two.
                           Damn it.
(picks up the phone and dials it again)
CUT TO:

                          FADE IN

EXT: Jasper,Alabama (NIGHT)
INT: A bar in a small town.
The bar is an old rundown shack, with gravel paving on the
west side of town, near the railroad tracks. The parking
lot is filled to the brim just as a shadow of a woman walks
past it. The camera whooshes to her face, revealing that
                                                              3

it‟s indeed KATE AUSTEN. Kate hesitates, glances down at a
scrawled piece of paper, and walks into the bar. It‟s
extremely smoky, and there are pool tables, along with
southern women in Daisy Dukes. It looks like a scene out of
„Dukes of Hazzard‟. Several men wolf-whistle Kate as she
walks to the bartender.
                            KATE:
                (loudly over the music) Ford?

                         BARTENDER:
(points without even looking up) That way, ma‟am.

(Kate nods, and makes her way down the smoky bar to a group
of men who sit around someone. They all turn as soon as
Kate walks in, some staring at her lustily, others
                      grimacing at her)

                               MAN:
Well, hello beautiful. Where‟ve you been?

                              KATE:
(ignores him) I‟m looking for Eydis Ford.

                               MAN:
(whistles) Hear that? She‟s looking for Eydis.

Some men step aside. In a recliner, smoking a cigarette,
Kate sees Eydis Ford. Eydis is in her late twenties, with
black hair, bright blue eyes and heavy make-up. She glares
at Kate.

                              EYDIS:
                  (looks shocked, but stiffens)
                       Been expecting you.

CUT TO:

EXT: OUTSIDE THE BAR (NIGHT)

Eydis and Kate walk along the parking lot.

                            EYDIS
Tried to kill my boyfriend. Went on trial for it, was
convicted, and…that‟s the last I saw of him.

                               KATE
                                                             4

                         You mean James.

                              EYDIS
(glares at her) Who else could I mean?

                              KATE
                     (humored) Sorry, sorry.

                           EYDIS:
Yeah. His last sober words were “One day I‟m gonna send
someone to ya.” Guess today‟s my lucky day. (takes a gun
out of her pocket- Kate looks at it, and then up at her
                       with concern)

                        EYDIS cont‟d
                    (plays with the gun)
I‟m sorry you can‟t deliver your message. „Fraid I won‟t be
around to hear it. Save ya the trouble.

(takes the safety off the gun. Kate looks extremely
                       concerned now)

                               KATE
You don‟t need to do that.

                           EYDIS
You‟ve known me….for five minutes. How is it you think you
know what I need to do?

                               KATE
                           Sawyer said-

                           EYDIS
I don‟t care what Sawyer said. I don‟t care anymore.

(Kate watches in horror as Eydis lays the muzzle to her
chest. Suddenly, the tables turn as Eydis whizzes a bullet
past Kate. It‟s not meant to be a real shot, but Kate
doubles over in shock, crying out in pain, acting as though
                         she has been shot)

                              EYDIS
                       (standing over her)
                                                             5

I‟m told I have either very good aim or very bad aim. You
                           decide.
(She twirls the gun and sticks it in her pocket- as she
turns to leave, Kate pounces on her from behind)

EXT: Outside the Bar (NIGHT)
Same time, same place

(The two women struggle as they fight. Finally, a panting
Kate grasps the gun and holds it up to Eydis, who raises
her hands half-heartedly and rolls her eyes)

                            KATE
I need to know about your profession.

                            EYDIS
                         Oh really.

                           KATE OS
                       (Eydis smirks)
I know you‟re a professor of biophysics and conspiracies at
the University of Alabama. He told me to find you…The rest
                      fell into place.

                            EYDIS
                     (walks around her)
You want me to let you in on a little secret? People „round
here don‟t exactly think I‟m miss Einstein.

                            KATE
                       I can see that.

                            EYDIS
Yeah. So, did my brother put you up to this?

                               KATE
                                No.

                           EYDIS
Is that your final answer? Thought it-
                                                              6

                             KATE
                            Hey!!
                      (startles Eydis)
I‟m the one with the gun, here.

                           EYDIS:
                       (pause- sighs)
Ok, fine. I‟ll…humor you. What do you want to know?

                             KATE
                        (in her face)
                 Take me to the University.

                           EYDIS
Sorry. It‟s happy hour and I-

                            KATE
                            NOW!

EYDIS reluctantly takes out her keys and flips the ignition
when they make their way to the car as Kate holds the gun
up to her-

                          JACK V.O
Why won‟t you tell me what you‟re doing in Alabama next
                            week?

                                                     FADE IN
EXT: Los Angeles (DAY)
INT: A white Tahoe car

JACK and KATE in a car. Kate is dressed for work, Jack is
clean shaven. Kate keeps looking at her watch, and is
obviously annoyed. Los Angeles whizzes by in the windows.

                            KATE
                Because it‟s my life, Jack.
                          (pause)
                        KATE cont‟d
                    Where are we going?

                             JACK
                         You‟ll see.

                            KATE
                                                             7

„You‟ll see‟? You‟ve been saying that for the past half-
                           hour.

                           JACK
I‟m not telling you because I know what you‟ll do.

                            KATE
                         (humored)
Oh? Really? What would I do?

                            JACK
                      (half-playfully)
Well, you‟d first demand to leave the car. After that,
   you‟d lecture me…and I‟d almost give in. But..(pause)

                            KATE
                         But what?

                           JACK
(looking out the window and then back to Kate)
                But we‟d be there already.

(At this point, Kate looks out her rearview mirror at a
sign that reads „Crested Klugh Cemetery‟. Kate immediately
                     looks up at Jack)

                            KATE
                    No. Absolutely not.

                           JACK
I‟m sorry Kate, but I‟m the one driving.

(The white car pulls up to a black hearse. It looks as if
the funeral procession has been recent- the coffin is still
set above the grave, chairs littered around it. The
               graveyard, however, is empty.)

                            KATE
                          (sighs)
             Jack…this doesn‟t make any sense.

                            JACK
                  It makes perfect sense.

                           KATE
                                                              8

Now you‟re starting to sound just like him.

                            JACK
And why shouldn‟t I? He was right, wasn‟t he? About
                        everything.

                            KATE
He was frantic. He wanted us back there, to leave our
lives……landing on that island took us away from reality for
                   a few days- But Jack-

                            JACK
                           What?

                             KATE
                      (shakes her head)
                   We can‟t just……forget.

                            JACK
              That‟s exactly what I‟m saying!
                  (Opens the door for her)

                             KATE
No. He couldn‟t cope with reality. Look what happened to
                             him.
                   (motions to the hearse)
We have no choice but to go on.

                            JACK
But if we had a choice.

                            KATE
                          (firmly)
We don‟t have a choice. I thought we went over this..Jack…
(places her hand on her forehead in exasperation)
Why did you take me here?

                          BEN (OS)
                  Because we have a plan.

Kate turns around to see Benjamin Linus. He‟s the driver of
the hearse and smiles half-heartedly. Kate scowls. Jack
looks nervously from Ben to Kate, hoping she might join in
on the plan.

                            BEN
                        Hello, Kate.
                                                              9

EYDIS locks the car and walks quickly to the building, Kate
following close behind.

                             KATE
                           (softly)
I need to know about your research.

                           EYDIS
                      My research. Ok.

                            KATE
                          (pause)
You have a PHD in conspiracies of the 20th century.

                           EYDIS
                        (intrigued)
                  Well done..Miss Austen.

                            KATE
                          (shrugs)
                      did my research.

                            EYDIS
Yeah. Kind of scary in a way.
(unlocks the door and gazes back at her)
How much do you know about me anyway?

                            KATE
                          (stops)
I know you were a fugitive.
                      (Looks at Eydis)

                    (Eydis keeps walking)
                         KATE cont‟d
I know that you and James share the same father.

                           EYDIS
So, you know my “conboy” brother, eh?
                                                             10

                            KATE
                    Yeah. „least, I did.

                            EYDIS
                            Dead?

                            KATE
It‟s a long story, but no.

(They walk inside. The halls are eerily quiet, and buzz
with the fluorescent lighting of the long hallways. Eydis
finds her room and opens it)

                            EYDIS
(turns on the lights to reveal file cabinets)
So- what‟s the big bad thing you want to know about my
                          research?

                             KATE
                        File cabinets?

                             EYDIS
I bet you a tequila that‟s what you‟re gonna need.
(walks to a file cabinet and opens it with a key)
                         EYDIS cont‟d
So- hit it. Kennedy Assassination? Area Fifty-One? Cuban
Missile Crisis Bioterrorism? Oh- or my personal
favorite…(whispers) The royal jewels of the Czar Nicolas
                         II..(smirks)

                            KATE
(stares at her, ignoring her humor)
I want you to tell me everything you know about the Hanso
           Foundation and the Dharma Initiative.

(Eydis gives her a strange look and then, as if realizes
something, widens her eyes in shock as the screen turns to
                           black)

SCENE THREE
EXT: The Island (DAY)
INT: The Jungle

Sawyer & Juliet walk through the jungle. Sawyer scowls.
Juliet rubs her head.
                                                         11

                          SAWYER
               Got a hangover, sweetheart?

                           JULIET
*sighs* I don‟t know anything about the Valenzetti
                         Equation.

                           SAWYER
                         (humored)
Whoa whoa…never said you did. Now if you feel a confession
coming on, I‟m right over here.

                          JULIET
They all stare at me like I know something they don‟t. I
wanted to get off this island. I wanted to leave. I just-

                          SAWYER
Tell it all to Brother Sawyer.

                          JULIET
                         (Smirks)
                    Where is everyone?

                          SAWYER
                           Who?

                           JULIET
                   (throws up her arms)
                     Miles? Charlotte?
                 (scoffs…and then laughs)
                    I can‟t believe it.

                          SAWYER
(“What are you laughing about?” tone)
                           What?

                          JULIET
                   We‟re actually lost.

                          SAWYER
                           Lost?

                          JULIET
                           Yeah.
                                                            12

                          SAWYER
                      No, we‟re not.

                           JULIET
                         (humored)
                       Yes. We are.

                          SAWYER
                        We‟re not!

                          JULIET
                    Which way‟s north?

                           SAWYER
That‟s not important. (pause) I saw someone right through
                   the trees over there.

(Juliet looks up to see someone moving- she turns to Sawyer
who begins to scowl, thinking it‟s an enemy. He quietly
loads a gun and puts a finger to his lips as they step
                    through the jungle.)

                       SAWYER cont‟d
                      Musta been Red.

                           JULIET
                      (intuitionally)
No. No it wasn‟t- she was blonde-

(She immediately follows the person, until she almost
catches them. The person begins to run, and Juliet sprints
after them, until the person turns around and raises her
hands. She‟s wearing a jumpsuit that says „Olivia- Teacher‟
on it and she looks at them both fearfully)

                          JULIET
                       Who are you?

                           OLIVIA
I honestly don‟t think that‟s the proper question right
                            now.

                  (Juliet stares at her)

                       OLIVIA cont‟d
But I‟ll give you the proper answer. The notebook. Find the
                         notebook.
                                                            13

                              JULIET
                      Who has the notebook?

                           OLIVIA
Benjamin Linus. Take a gander at page 107 for me, will you?

(Sawyer comes running behind Juliet, eyes wide at the
                           woman)

                              OLIVIA
                      One-hundred and Seven.

(She turns around to walk through the jungle, and glances
back at them. A trail of blood streams from her nose as she
looks back at them, and walks)

                           SAWYER
Was I hallucinatin‟, or did her suit have „Olivia‟ on it?

                           JULIET
It did. And she kept telling me to look on „Page 107‟.

                              SAWYER
                               Damn.

                              JULIET
                      (turns around to him)
                               What?

                            SAWYER
That was our skeleton…you know the one in the pit?
(Pause) That was her, walking right by.
                     (Lights a cigarette)
I need to get off this island.

CUT TO:

EXT: Los Angeles
INT: Klugh Cemetery

Kate stares at a tombstone. It reads „Jeremy Bentum‟. A
small trace of sadness is on her face. Ben and Jack stay
back, watching her.

                               JACK
                           (melancholy)
                                                           14

                  She won‟t….she can‟t.

                            BEN
Do you want to know my honest opinion, Jack?

                           JACK
          I can‟t believe you‟re asking me that.

                           BEN
                (looks from Jack to Kate)
She‟s the least of our worries.

                           JACK
                         (firmly)
What do you mean she‟s the least of our worries?

                           BEN
Sun? Hugo? She‟s going to be a breeze compared to them.

                           JACK
Yeah, not to mention coffin man over there.
                 (motions to the hearse)

                            BEN
The only way you‟re going to get them on that island
without force is to make them see through your eyes. They
have to be devoted or it won‟t work. They‟ll trust a
doctor‟s mind, his judgment…but his eyes are a different
                       story, Jack.

                           JACK
                        And Kate?

                            BEN
Kate will do what she wants. She is a fugitive, after all.

                           JACK
                         (shrugs)
                   She‟s……not going to-

                            BEN
I get the feeling you underestimate her.

                           JACK
                   She‟s not dangerous.
                                                            15

                               BEN
            I don‟t think that‟s entirely the point.

                            JACK
Well, why should you care? As long as she‟s on for the
ride, you have nothing to worry about.
                             BEN
                       Of course not.

                              JACK
                    You trust my eyes then?

                             BEN
                          (pauses)
I trust your judgment. I‟ll find a way to get her to go
                            back.
(flips through the notebook and hands it to Jack)
Take a glance at page 107, would you?

EXT: University of Alabama
INT: File room (NIGHT)

                             EYDIS
                      You‟re one of them.

                              KATE
                          One of who?

                            EYDIS
             (closes the file cabinet abruptly)
The oceanic six! Your plane was found at the bottom of the
ocean- and then you turned up! You would have been stranded
on that God-forsaken island had you not disabled the Dharma
               station and received a signal.

KATE nods, but soon fades into confusion

                              KATE
How do you know that we disabled the signal?

                              EYDIS
                        One of you said-

                              KATE
No one said anything about a Dharma station.
                                                            16

EYDIS begins to back up until she hits a file cabinet.

                        KATE cont‟d
How much do you know about the island, anyway? About the
                      Looking Glass?

EYDIS looks at her firmly, fearfully

                       KATE Cont‟d
How many lies have you told me?
                   (voice gets louder)
                        How….many?

                           EYDIS
You say I was a fugitive. You were one as well, Miss
Austen. You call me a con- but so are you-

                           KATE
How many times have you lied to me?!

                           EYDIS
                       (shouts out)
How many times have you lied to the world?!

                Kate blinks, thrown aback

                           EYDIS
That baby isn‟t your son. People you said died didn‟t. You
were lying- all of you were lying.

                      KATE swallows

                           KATE
Tell me who they are..The Hanso Foundation.

                           EYDIS
You do the favor Sawyer asked you to do…then I‟ll tell you
                        everything.

                (looks down to Kate‟s bag)

                       EYDIS cont‟d
                    See that notebook?
                                                            17

                            KATE
                           What?

                           EYDIS
                       The notebook.
                          (points)
                       Right there.

KATE takes it, and holds it hesitantly in her hands.

                         EYDIS cont‟d
It‟s the only way you could have known….about all of this.
There are only a handful of people that know anything about
the Hanso Foundation. What does it say?

                           KATE
              Nothing. Just an old notebook.

                           EYDIS
You‟re an excellent liar, Miss Austen.
                     (shakes her head)
You‟re not even here because my brother asked you to be.
You‟re here because „he‟ told you.

                           KATE
That‟s not entirely true. I don‟t know what you‟re talking
                          about.

                           EYDIS
You know exactly who „he‟ is. „He‟ is the one who gave you
the notebook. „He‟ is the one who wants you back- „He‟ is
the one that killed John Locke.

                            KATE
                       You‟re crazy.

                           EYDIS
I know more than what you could imagine. It‟s right here,
                           Kate.

                    (holds out a file)

                        EYDIS cont‟d
Everything you want to know. Take it.
                      (KATE takes it)
The police will be here in twenty minutes. Leave now, and
                 you‟ll have a head start.
                                                             18

                            KATE
What? What are you talking about?

                            EYDIS
My brother asked you to do a favor. I trust you‟ll do it
before someone else does. In the meantime, I suggest you
                             run.

Kate stares at her. In a split second, she takes out the
                     gun and shoots her.

                            KATE
I‟m sorry, Eydis. I‟m so sorry.

                            EYDIS
                         (coughing)
Page 107. Look in it, Kate. It needs a glance or two.

                            KATE
                          I will.

                            EYDIS
                          *sighs*
                         Thank you.

Kate runs out the door just as EYDIS DIES

KATE RUNS TO THE CAR JUST AS POLICE SIRENS FLOOD HER EARS.
AS SHE DRIVES AWAY, SHE glances back at the Notebook,
lights flashing over it as she cascades onto the highway.

FLASHBACK
CUT TO:

EXT: Los Angeles
INT: Kate‟s house- Living Room (NIGHT)
Kate is sitting at her table. She‟s wearing glasses, and
looks pretty and sophisticated as she mulls over a stack of
papers in front of her. She hears Aaron coming from
upstairs, whispering to someone. She looks up for a second,
cursing, and looks back down until she sees Aaron in her
peripheral vision, with someone standing behind him. She
believes its Jack.
                                                           19

                          KATE:
                    (in an ennui tone)
Jack, what did I tell you about coming here? Aaron-
(she looks up to see BEN LINUS, his hand on the boy‟s
                        shoulder)

                       KATE: cont‟d
(angry) What on earth…are you doing here?

                           BEN:
(long pause)Why do you think I‟m here, Kate?

                           KATE
You want me to go back to the island. I‟ve heard it all
                        from Jack.

                            BEN
I want you to want to go back.

                             KATE:
Well, in that case, I‟ve heard all you‟re about to say…get
out of my house. Come here Aaron.
                    (Aaron doesn‟t budge)
                             Aaron.
                (Aaron clings to Ben‟s side)
                            Aaron!
(Kate looks up at Ben, exasperated)

                       KATE cont‟d:
                       What did you-

                            BEN:
I brought you this. Thought you might want to take a look
at it. (Takes a black bound book from behind his back and
holds it to her- she glances at the book, and then up at
               Ben, and finally snatches it)

                           KATE:
(flipping through the pages) What is this?

                           BEN:
              It‟s a notebook. Your notebook.

                           KATE:
(looks up at him) My notebook? (smartly) This isn‟t my
                       handwriting.
                                                            20

                            BEN:
Just read it, Kate. Read the first page aloud.

                               KATE:
(puts on her glasses reluctantly) Dear Kate. By this time,
you have forgotten everything you tried so hard to protect.
You may not remember me, but I remember you. Our time on
                             the isl-
( her voice fades, as she stops reading aloud, her eyes
scanning the pages. She quickly flips through them all, and
then puts it down, throwing her glasses halfway across the
house. She looks up at Ben and stands up. They share an
awkward glance, almost looking like they‟re about to kiss.
                    Suddenly, Kate slaps him)
(KATE looks at BEN like a madwoman; her face is literally
                   millimeters away from his)

                            KATE
(through her teeth) How….dare…you. (cries out) How dare you
bring this….curse…back into my life! How dare you!

(BEN looks at her mouth- he gazes at her like he would to
JULIET. It‟s odd and very unlike him.)

                              BEN:
                            (slowly)
              It‟s not a curse. It‟s a blessing.
                       (snaps out of it)
You know, you get along pretty well, Kate. Fugitive. Con.
And yet you can still pull yourself together enough to be
sophisticated far beyond reason. But (pause) Do you even
know who you are, Kate? Do you know what you are?

KATE looks at him with abhorrence

                            BEN cont‟d
                    (He immediately steps back)
Read through it. Learn. You‟ll soon come to realize that
you left much more truth on the island than in this life.
(He‟s now out the door- looks back at her)
It depends which side of the fence you‟re on, Kate.

KATE only stares at him, half-angry, half-devastated.

                              BEN:
                                                                                        21

                          You remember, don‟t you?

                                   THUD TO BLACK

                                         LOST

                                    AFTERWARD

Let me first just say thank you for reading! It means so much- and it’ll mean so much
more if you give me some feedback on it!

The name Eydis strikes one as odd- but it actually dervives from ‘Perdeydis’ which is
almost synonymous with ‘lost’. It also means‘Isle-Goddess’ in Nordic. Thought it was
fitting for some reason. Eydis has a past that involves the island.

Eydis knew she was going to die, and that’s why she called the police. She wanted Kate
to be on the run, hoping that Kate would somehow find the island if she was in great
haste and deprivation to find it. Sawyer asked Kate to kill Eydis, not out of hate or
revenge, but because he knew that she was going to be tortured or killed because she
knew so much about the Hanso Foundation (which is not disclosed in the script itself but
should be implied) and the fact that her brother was on the island. The blood ties between
Eydis and Sawyer is that Sawyer’s father fathered Eydis and Sawyer, but of different
mothers. So they’re half-siblings, such as Claire and Jack.

Furthermore, I didn’t dwell on the island because I thought it was time to bring the focus
back to the Oceanic six for a moment.

                              Anyway, thanks for reading!

                                        -????????
