Duration: 10 hours.


Preconditions: none.


Expected outcomes:

-   To diagnose and face problems of different nature: organizational, relation and technical
    problems;
-   To analyze the characteristics of different problems to contextualize them in clear-cut
    categories;
-   To survey different problem solving alternatives;
-   To choose the most effective solutions;
-   To face problems individually or as a group;
-   To plan and decide, for each problem, suitable stategies of action and behaviour.

Competences at the end of the TU:

-   To be able to analyze and evaluate a problem work situation;
-   To be able to use specific problem solving techniques;
-   To be able to plan an action strategy to tackle problems, evaluating the resources of the context
    in relation to the goals to reach;
-   To be able to evaluate one’s own degree of involvement in a situation, delegating actions and
    responsibilities to others as well.


Contents:

-   The diagnose of technical, organizational and relation problems;
-   From diagnose to contextualization;
-   Techniques to solve problems: from problem-solving to decision-making
-   Individual and collective problem solving: advantages and disadvantages
-   The decision-making and delegation process
-   The subject’s strategies of action
-   Evlauation criteria and methods of action and relation plans


Training methods

-   The experiential method (method based on direct experiences) will be privileged, in order to put
    the subject in a position of direct and active involvement, with short theoretical summaries from
    time to time to facilitate the absorption of experiences;
-   Use of structured exercises to be done either individually or in small groups;
-   Analysis of company case histories or equivalent;
-   Assisted simulation with revisions of experiences and sharing of results in plenary sessions;
Tools

-   Use of teaching tools such as flip-over chart, PCs and overhead projector, possible use of TV set
    and/or IT tools;
-   Ad-hoc educational equipment will be provided for under the shape of slides or photocopied
    material.

Evaluation methods

The testing of learing is carried out through the submission and analysis of a company case history
that has to be solved either individually or in small groups; the case will contain critical relation or
organizational situations, for the solution of which actions and strategies are required.
The examinee will be put in the situation of approaching the case with the diagnostic tools studied
during the training module and suggest active solutions and strategies.
