SUBJECT: DELIVERY PROCEDURE REFERENCE #7105 PAGE: 1 DEPARTMENT: DURABLE & HOME MEDICAL EQUIPMENT OF: 5 EFFECTIVE: APPROVED BY: REVISED: PURPOSE: To ensure timely, efficient, and accurate delivery of equipment and/or supplies. POLICY: Delivery requests shall be filled in a timely, efficient and accurate manner by qualified personnel seven (7) days a week. Rental orders shall be filled with equipment which is absolutely clean, free from functional defects and relatively free of major cosmetic defects. Delivery staff are responsible for assuring that these standards are met at the time of equipment delivery. Equipment and/or supplies shall be delivered to clients within 24 hours of the request unless mutually agreeable alternate arrangements have been made. Requested items not maintained in the inventory shall be secured within a reasonable period of time. The client and/or referral source shall be made aware of delays, if encountered. All equipment shall be loaded and restrained in such a way as to prevent unnecessary damage and avoid injury during transit. Delivery staff shall take appropriate care in the loading and unloading of equipment to prevent damage and/or injury to equipment, employee, client, caregiver or client’s property. Prior to delivery the equipment will be inspected to verify that the preventive maintenance inspection has been completed and is current, that the equipment is clean and in good working order. Delivery personnel will perform setup or assembly of equipment only after they have received appropriate training to do so. All equipment is to be checked for proper functioning.
