									                   MONICA LEONE
For the first time in Australia Monica Leone will play in Melbourne on the 13th of
March 2006, at 7,30 p.m. at Federation Hall, Victorian College of Arts. During
this concert she will play the Goldberg Variations of Bach. The event is being
organised by the Italian Institute of Culture of Melbourne with the support of
Prysmian.

Born in Campobasso, Monica Leone began her piano studies under the guidance of
her mother, Carmen Mazzarino, and then continued with Massimo Bertucci in
Naples. Finally she completed her studies with Michele Campanella.

For many years she has performed in the world’s most prestigious concert halls and
consequently has also decided to play in Australia during her upcoming tour, in the
company of her mentor and teacher Michele Campanella.

The most important musicologists of the world have strongly praised Monica Leone.
For example, Leonardo Pinzauti once wrote that: “the pianistic performance of the
Golberg Variations executed by Monica Leone was received with much acclaim, and
demonstrated her great musical intelligence and perfect technical mastery”.

Her orchestral repertoire, in addition to all the concerts of Bach, includes works by
Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Saint-Saens and Poulenc. She enthusiastically dedicates
herself to chamber music in all its forms. After the CD of the Golberg Variations,
she continued with the pianistic works of J.S.Bach, the “NICCOLO`”, and in 2004
she published the second volume of the French Suites.
