        Avenue Corentin-Cariou, 19th Arr.
Metro: Porte de la Villette or Av. Jean-Jaurès or Porte Pantin

• Ever since it opened in 1986, La Villette has never ceased to develop as one of the city's largest
cultural areas. With the Cité des Sciences to the north, Cité de la Musique to the south, and Canal
de l'Ourcq through the middle, the Parc is a postmodern feast dotted with the bright red folies
designed by Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi. These serve as glorious climbing frames in addition
to first aid post, children's art center, Hot Brass jazz club, and the most modern Quick Burger in
town. It is one of the few parks where you are actually invited to walk, run or picnic on the lawns,
or explore the Garden of Mirrors, Mists, and Childhood Fears.

Espace section, devoted to man's conquest of space, lets you feel the sensation of weightlessness.
Other selections feature climate, ecology and the environment, health, energy, agriculture, the
ocean, and volcanoes. The Automobile gallery, which opened in the Fall of 1996, looks at the car
