Mount Marty’s Michelle Amundson Scores 1500th Career Point
Michelle Amundson recently became only the 7 Mount Marty women’s
basketball player to score 1500 points in a career. Michelle entered the February 3rd
game vs. Northwestern, IA with 1499 points after a 14 point performance vs.
Morningside University a week earlier left her one point shy of 1500. She made a 17 foot
jump shot off the dribble in the game’s opening minutes to reach the milestone; she
ended the game with 1515 points after scoring 16 points on the evening.
The Dell Rapids, SD native and recipient of the 2006 South Dakota High School
Miss Basketball Award entered her senior season in 12th place on the all-time scoring list
at Mount Marty with 1108 points.
Michelle led Mount Marty to the NAIA National Tournament as a freshman and
as a junior, including a school record 24 wins in the 2008-09 season.
In her senior season Michelle has averaged 18 points per game for a Lancer team
that has 6 victories over NAIA Top 25 opponents and that earlier this season was ranked
#7 in the nation, the highest ranking in the program’s history.
