Hykeham Riding Club celebrates as Annabel and Bertie win National Championships. Continuing their successful year in Dressage to Music competitions, Annabel and Berberys Blaze took the ultimate British Riding Club title when they became Junior Dressage to Music National Champions on Saturday 6th October. The event was held at Addington Manor, Buckinghamshire in the stunningly refurbished indoor school. Competitors from across the country had won their Area Music Competition to take part in this Championship - aimed at riders under 17 years which means some of the older ones are riding 16hh horses! With Bertie standing only 12.2hh he was the smallest pony by far and Annabel at 11 years of age the youngest rider. But this did not deter them! Using their signature piece of ‘Let me be your Teddy Bear’ which suits Bertie’s cheeky character and expressive trot as well as the rather apt change of walk music to Queen’s ‘We are the Champions’ they produced a superb test gaining 76% and some very positive comments from judges Lady Inchcape and Donald Kear. Photos included are Annabel and Bertie at the presentation with Mr Roy Turner, Chairman of British Riding Clubs presenting the prizes.
